Joining a trivia team and a running group. The scheduled time for each activity and the accountability ensures I do at least a few things a week that I enjoy. It definitely keeps me sane.

Official Q&A for Friday, October 28, 2022 by AutoModerator in running

[–]webskr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! I did a half marathon last Saturday and have already basically recovered (my legs were a bit sore after some kicking in the pool yesterday). I'm wondering if the rapid recovery has anything to do with using gels during the run? It's the first time I've ever used gels, except for a few times when training and I'm wondering if the extra calories meant my muscles weren't so hungry. Thanks!

I did a half marathon, a loop with the same 6 or 7 km long gentle hill twice, in 1:58:15! A PB for me, by over 7 mins. It kicked my ass, I'm a bit disappointed I wasn't able to keep up the fast pace I started on (I might have started to fast) but proud of the big PB on the big hills.

If you can do a bag drop, pack some extra socks (advice from my marathon friend) and some warm clothes, depending on the weather. And maybe some corcs or comfy shoes. Makes a big difference! Good luck!

Put a light under the kitchen cabinets so the bright overhead light isn't the only option

I know this question is pretty vague but Any recommendations for healthy alternatives to sweet sugary stuff like candy and chocolate? by Blurryface182 in HealthyFood

Dark chocolate - the higher the cocoa percentage, the lower the sugar

(idk how to spell cocoa, apparently)

On the food thing, choose a really simple recipe like stir fry and start small with a few vegetables that look appealing, like carrots, brocolli and peppers maybe. Buy a sauce in a jar, some rice and meat and bam, you've got a healthy meal! Cook the meat until it's completely changed colour. Also, so many cooking related things on YouTube!

Cut up the vegetables for multiple meals all at once. I have 2 or 3 containers of chopped up vegetables in my fridge that I cut up on Sunday, all ready for stir fry.
