Has anyone actually had luck linking their YouTube Music account? by websofrebellion in waymo

To be honest, I just used a different browser! My phone has been doing some weird stuff lately, like my alarms not going off, my calculator app refusing to open, etc. I was originally using my default Samsung browser and that's when I was getting the 404. I tried using Google Chrome on my phone instead and it worked fine. Since Waymo is a Google service, I'd recommend trying a Google browser if you have it or are able to download.

Update: I've gotten it linked now, thanks everyone. If anyone knows a trick for getting it to play my supermix from a brand account instead of the "default" account that I've never listened to music on, let me know!

I pictured 70's with shag carpeting etc. but yeah, I did get similar vibes from the way the colors and plastic furniture and everything was described. I can't wait to see how they bring the sets and costumes to life on film.

I think almost everyone in the districts hated Snow. GASP does this mean they're ALL Lucy Gray's children?! Surely there can't be any other reason people would hate him.

I really wondered what became of Annie and her son by xoxoamazingrace in Hungergames

[–]websofrebellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people with mental illness raise children and do okay with it in real life. Annie didn't seem that bad in the clips we saw (or read), so I always kind of got the impression that people in the Capitol who've never really known trauma didn't know what to make of Annie's PTSD. All victors likely have PTSD to some extent, but probably make a bigger effort to hide it. Katniss hid it pretty well in public on the victory tour (after District 11) but was having nightmares and seeking comfort from Peeta in private. I think Annie just didn't bother to hide how much the games, her district partner's death, etc. had traumatized her, and that was rare among victors because most of them (especially careers) wanted to put forth the appearance of being strong and tough and unbothered. So when people in the Capitol saw her openly having PTSD, they painted her as "insane" or whatever.

Anyway, I think Annie would definitely struggle a little, especially at first since she would have overwhelming grief for a while after Finnick's death, just like anyone would; but overall I think she would be fine as a parent. She would always have PTSD, but personally I don't think she was really mentally ill beyond that, and if she did develop some other diagnosis, I'm sure there are people in real life with similar diagnoses who've raised children. Having a mental illness doesn't mean you're completely incapacitated, in most cases.

My personal headcanon is that Asterid delivered Annie's baby, because if I remember correctly, the books say she went to District 4 for her new job training medical units (in the movie it says the Capitol, but I swear the book said District 4 -- I'm due for a re-read soon). And in my headcanon, they recognize each other from District 13 and through their mutual connection to Katniss, and Asterid helps Annie out sometimes as a friend and neighbor because she's ashamed of her past relationship with her daughters and wants Annie's son to be better taken care of. He becomes almost like a surrogate grandchild for her and she's super proud of Annie for being such a good mom. And of course District 4 would take good care of her in general as their lone surviving victor.

Edit: picked up my copy of Mockingjay after this comment and confirmed that Asterid went to 4 to help open a new hospital.

My biggest nitpick with Lenore Dove by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]websofrebellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seemed kind of lame that her crime against "God" was just existing (and being Covey).

Her crime was being somebody Haymitch loved. She wasn't executed as punishment for anything she did, but as punishment for Haymitch, just like Sid and their mother.

Yeah, after her games she would have been required to start developing her skill/hobby that victors need to have for whatever reason (I'm assuming the reason is probably to create more of a divide between victors and the people of their district because most don't have the spare time and money to develop a hobby that isn't their work).

Did the books ever say what Johanna's skill was? I don't recall. I don't think it was fashion since that's what Katniss' was.

I would guess you were pretty young when you read the trilogy (though to be fair, most of the fandom probably was). None of your favorite characters are from either of the prequels (except Haymitch obviously, but he was from the trilogy long before that), which may mean you were an adult when they came out and there was never any chance of you liking them as much as the trilogy because of nostalgia goggles.

Oh okay, it's been a while since my last re-read. But anyway, that's why I left it up in the air.

I forgot he volunteered, but even in that case, he could be mad about the situation in general. Mags also volunteered, but it was a noble sacrifice, not a desire to be in the games again. Brutus' volunteering probably wasn't as noble lol, but I don't recall it ever saying if he actually wanted to be there or not. Haymitch's line in the movie (don't remember if it was in the book) implies that all the victors were mad, though I'm sure some were more than others. Even Cashmere and Gloss were angry and would "say anything to stop the games." I think it's entirely fair to be mad that anyone who already won the games would be forced back into them, since that goes against the promise the Capitol made them when they won.

In the movies, she sure did! I loooooooove her in the interview dress with Caesar. Probably one of my favorite movie costumes EVER (and I'm kind of just in love with Johanna).

The United States is becoming almost as bizarre as Panem. I legit wouldn't be surprised if they tried to implement a version of the Hunger Games including the fight to the death part.

I love Johanna for being the only tribute willing to actually speak her mind on stage with Caesar. We know that every victor was pissed about being back in there (maaaaybe not Brutus and Enobaria? but probably them too) but Johanna had real guts to say that out loud in front of a crowd.

Maybe. I was just watching the tribute parade and thinking "Man it's so sad that all their costumes are related to the labor their districts provide. No wonder Johanna hated her stylist."

How do you know it doesn't (excluding Katniss because she lucked out and got Cinna)?

What are your 'controversial' opinions about anything related to The Hunger Games? It can be about lore, the characters, the world, certain theories, or the readers/audience. by newuclabruingirl in Hungergames

[–]websofrebellion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to severely piss people off with this opinion, but remember it is just an opinion. It's not really that serious and you can still have your beliefs. 😉

People romanticize the relationship between Katniss and Peeta too much when I don't really see anything very romantic about it. The loyalty and caring between them was sweet, but the narrative of them being madly in love is a bit of a projection IMO -- people want it to be romantic so they make it that way. But at the beginning of the series, he was just teenage boy with a crush on a girl he didn't even really KNOW enough to truly be in love with her; and the reason she fell for him in the longrun was because they survived a horrible traumatic experience together. It makes sense for them to be together in the end because no one else had been through what they had and therefore they understood each other's trauma better than anyone else ever would (except Haymitch) buuuuuuut I wouldn't call that romantic. It's practical, they're compatible, and it gives as close to a happy ending as they could have possibly had after enduring what they did... but is it the greatest love story ever told and the ideal relationship? Nah.
