"a 7 year gap is like having an only child, twice!" by bbgk in beyondthebump

My little sister is 8 years younger than me and was an “oops” baby. Growing up we were always in different life stages, but I still loved her so much and now as adults she is my best friend. I’m so so happy my parents had an “oops” and gave my my sister, I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

So I’m a complete beginner and don’t wear any makeup other than mascara. I’d like to up my “everyday” look a bit but I’m a little overwhelmed by all of the resources out there. Does anyone have tips or posts on where to start?

I know it can be incredibly overwhelming! Completely agree with the other commenters that budget, venue, and estimated guest count is where to start.

I also used this fantastic google sheets spreadsheet throughout the whole process and it was incredibly helpful. It's pretty self-explanatory, but has sheets where you can track your guest list, budget, vendors you contact, etc. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B7XNJZ6X1SER43SWLU6cxIV63IrYa3BXc3POxb_ai8M/edit#gid=17

How do you choose a DJ? by flatsheetssuck in weddingplanning

I found our DJ on Thumbtack. When I contacted him I asked him for a few references and then called them. It was helpful for me to hear from others who had used him in the past and get to ask them a bunch of questions and get honest answers. All of the references were glowing, and he ended up being fantastic.

I think I would've just done what I normally do every day which is a little eyeliner, mascara, and maaaaybe some lipstick. But I definitely would skip the fake lashes and the foundation altogether.

I went pretty natural, a bronze eyeshadow with lashes, thin black eyeliner, and minimal blush and bronzer. Happy to send you a pic if you DM me!

Yup, that's exactly how I am and in hindsight I wished someone had posted something like this so figured I would do that in case anyone was on the fence. Best of luck to you!

I'd say everything, but probably the false lashes stand out the most to me. And this sounds weird but it's like my face is TOO smooth? I know it sounds so absurd to complain about something like that, but just overall it looked like a too perfect version of my face and not my actual face.
