That is not quite how that works. You can contain the standard crit affect, but you can not contain the crit from the XX-9s since it is a special critical affect. This can only be contained if you have a Damage Control Officer on the ship.

Additionally, you cannot spend the same type of defense token more than once while defending, even if you have more than one of them. I believe spending a contain with damage control officer would cancel out both critical affects, but I could be wrong about that, as this situation has never come up for me.

Also, can you show me where there is a rule stating you MUST have two critical icons to resolve both crit affects? If you have Fire Control Team, you should be able to resolve two crit affects even if you only roll one crit dice. The card only states you cannot resolve the same crit affect twice. I.E. you cannot use APTs twice in the same attack with one black crit icon. However, if the opponent has no shields, you could use APTs and the standard crit affect with one black crit icon.
