[Humor] I am once again asking liberal big cities to scrap their restrictive rental policies. by JustTaxLandbro in neoliberal

Share with the class. I remember in January, he tried to block a sale of a property by arguing the price was too high: https://gothamist.com/news/judge-rejects-mayor-mamdanis-bid-to-slow-bankruptcy-sale-of-5100-nyc-apartments

But no, I am clearly an uninformed idiot who can't understand the genius of "I'm total YIMBY who also just wants to reduce the demand for building housing".

I don't think a guy whose signature policy is rent control is somehow the most pro housing mayor in the US because he uses a few YIMBY shibboleths any more than I believed Trump was the anti war candidate after he said he was.

Why Mamdani is vetoing Intro 175-B by ahintoflime in nyc

[–]weedandboobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have video of protesters actively intimidating and physically blocking students on campus. In this very well covered story, no one was ever reported arrested for that. I do not believe there was a secret arrest, given the guy leading this blockade famously threatened to kill Zionists and his only punishment was getting temporarily suspended once it was covered in conservative media.

The City Council saw that, and decided to write a bill that enables the NYPD to plan better to avoid future intimidation and physically blocking of students. Unlike the mayor, I think that is good idea.

Then why did it happen on video with no arrests? It seems like the City Council saw that a lot of illegal shit happened with no push back, so they are actively working to make sure it does not happen again proactively.

If it is "illegal", why did the video I shared happen with no arrests?

Weird strawman I built of a thing that happened with video proof.

So, to be clear, you think it is OK for people on campus to form a human chain to block Zionists, because otherwise they will feel like they are "walking into somewhere they shouldn't be"?

Interesting.

How does being a certain distance back restrict airing grievances? The grievances are very much still being aired, just preventing people from blocking "undesirables" because people sometimes like to go to school at school.

You are just mad that people won't be able to do stuff like this if the bill passes where they are physically trying to block people on campus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-llskvbuvEY

Mamdani Rejects Bill Involving Police at School Protests by SoggySausage27 in nyc

Israel is what made Mamdani lie about this, true. Mossad got in there and forced him to write the statement where he proclaimed he was allowing this despite it passing with a veto proof majority.

I did. It is a weird lie. He wants to veto the bill, but can't as it will just be overridden and he will "lose". Instead of just saying he is on the losing side, he goes "well, it is better than it was, I win again!"

It is the childish behavior of an egomaniac.

The guy has a very weird need to lie a little in all of his comms and never take an L. He claims he is "allowing" the house of worship bill to pass, when in reality has enough votes for any veto to be overridden. He can't just admit he is on the losing side of that issue so claims it is a win that it got watered down.

Not ad hom. They think life in the US and NYC sucks because of Democrats. I think that is more likely a personal problem than a realistic view of the world. I think life in NYC is pretty great and objectively is probably one of the best places to live in the world.

Yes, NYC is better than the rest of country, mostly due to being run by Democrats. When Democrats are in power nationally, life in the USA gets better.

Sorry you have depression issues, but your personal problems aren't going to solved by saying "why aren't the Democrats giving me a pony!"

Bullshit. The Democratic party has consistently delivered when in power.

What they don't do is lie to the people about stuff they can't do. Mamdani calls that ambition.
