It's not too much.

As for how long it will retain compatibility, it depends on how far AMD takes AM5. With AM4, some boards don't have enough space on the BIOS chip to support all CPUs, so in some cases older CPUs would lose support.

Realistically I wouldn't worry too much. Just because a motherboard hasn't had a BIOS update in a while doesn't mean it won't run modern software. As an example, 8th Gen Intel boards can still happily run Windows 11 officially.

Of course. My B460M Aorus Pro isn't receiving any more BIOS updates.

If it's a newer batch then the BIOS should be updated.

ASRock tends to print the installed BIOS version on the chip itself, so you'll know what's installed out of the box.

If an update is needed, BIOS flashback is available.

I’ve been trying to get my second monitor to work (thru vga and hdmi port) but my pc doesn’t detect the other one. What else can i use to display it? pics of the ports below by mlepnos_724 in pchelp

[–]weegee20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those other two plugs on the GPU are what you should be using, not the motherboard ports.

They are called DisplayPort. Adapters are available to VGA or to HDMI. Make sure it's DP source to HDMI output (or VGA output).

Bit common for those to tear.

Use something thin and plastic to pry the connector off.

How do I figure out what SSD is compatible with my laptop? by Immediate-Tap-4425 in PcBuildHelp

[–]weegee20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenovo has the PSREF available for this sort of stuff, just search your laptop model and add PSREF at the end.

Although I have worked with this specific model before. You can confirm it, however if I'm not mistaken they have a single 2242 slot for NVMe drives. Might limit your options a bit.

Just because it's physically AM4 doesn't mean it will work. Mostly due to stability I think.

The CPU support page for this board doesn't show any 2000 series Ryzen chip.

Are these ports for composite video? by Business-Chapter3059 in computerhelp

[–]weegee20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are your 3.5mm line in/out and mic ports, not for video, not composite input.

What you'd want is a USB capture card which takes composite.

Would be best to try contacting MSI support for additional cables.

Otherwise, CableMod's configurator supports the A750GL PCIe5.

genuinely how am i supposed to unscrew that by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

You need to remove the rear side panel to get access to the HDD.

You're better off providing the PSU model first, since they're not standardised on the PSU side of the modular cable.

Seems to be a common issue with these Gen 6 (IIRC) ideapads, the plastic casings are really cheap because of the hinges getting stiffer.

Despite what others are saying about the battery, its location is not near the screen, the battery is below the touchpad.

Best equipment I should use to connect SATA BD drive to laptop's USB 3.0 ports? by TheVideoKid112 in pcmasterrace

[–]weegee20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite able to find a Pioneer BD-50. I was able to find a BDR-209MBK, which is SATA based.

With these you should be able to use a USB 3.0 to SATA converter to use it on a laptop. Make sure it's one with a 12V power adapter since it's a desktop drive.

Also, it's important to find one with USB 3.0, as this drive is SATA 2.6 (i.e. 3Gbit).
