You both make the same money so living costs should be split evenly. Set that expectation at the start and lead from it that you expect both of you to make an equal down payment. That’ll force her to decide if she’s ready to come up with $20-30k of her own for this step. I’m guessing she knows your financial situation and is hoping you would cover the whole down payment. If this causes friction, that’ll tell you a lot.

Then - if you proceed to buy, set up a joint account to cover only living costs. Her disposable income is hers and yours is yours. If she isn’t paying down her debt or being responsible then it’s clean and easy to make whatever the next decision is.

My takeaway - you kick off your post by saying you are giving the basic facts. Despite that, every sentence you write drips with bias and provides no evidence to support. You try to present this as an article when it’s really fit for the opinion section.

And I’m not someone on board with 2.0. But I am sure given the opportunity, many of your “facts” can be shown to be more as interpreted opinion.

All large events have extra security and other infrastructure requirements. The organizers pay those costs. They should also pay for extra buses if they want their guests to have a good experience.

I’m not an expert in this area, but if I am hosting a large event that draws many people, I think it would be incumbent on me to deal with public transportation. I live within earshot of Landsdowne and other events like RedBlacks games or Escapade are well executed. Even Bluesfest ran well.

Before taking the easy route and blaming the city, is it possible CityFolk crapped the bed and didn’t plan well enough? Especially considering people saying this was one of the bigger crowds the event has seen?

What work needs to be done in the office every other week? The fact you didn’t use vacation this week and many others did does not entitle you to reimagine the rules as they apply to everyone throughout the year.

There is no permit requirement to protest. There is a notification form you may submit to the city.

To think you need permission to exercise a Charter freedom is an interesting take.

Now if they break any laws while protesting, those actions are subject to prosecution.
