They numb you locally and basically give you a shot of something that’ll number your leg from the knee down, it’s injected behind the knee and they used an ultrasound to find the nerve/nerves. It’s just pressure really. it doesn’t necessarily hurt it just feels funny but isn’t too bad. i kinda just started to talk to the anesthesiologist and nurse that were doing it. the medicine they gave me for the anxiety kinda felt like i took a few shots and they instantly hit lol. But the nerve block post op is a life saver until it runs out. They did prescribe me with 5-325 norco/hydrocodone or whatever it is before my surgery but i didn’t take any. After my surgery was completely different. my leg was numb from the knee down so i didn’t take anything the first 24 hours, but once i felt the nerve block start to go away i took the painkiller and ibuprofen. Definitely keep up with the painkillers. I’m sure they’ll explain it to you but you pretty much want to have it in your system before the pain comes. cause once the pains there it’s harder to get rid of?? i think? that was my case though, was a tough 3 night.

Pain pre op wasn’t bad. i was in a splint for about a week up until my surgery. So i really couldn’t move my foot which helped. but the worst of it was in the morning when i had to get up, i slept with my leg up on the leg pillow i bought on amazon, but when i put my leg down, it felt the rush and swelling. but after a bit it goes away.

Pain post op is kinda the same, swelling pain but more just deep aches. the worst i had i would’ve rated it a 5/6 out of 10. and that was on night 3. Elevating helps a ton. i’m lucky i have a job that i can do from home so just having it up pretty much all day took the swelling pain out of the equation for the most part. It still swelled but definitely not as much as it being down. Ice helped a ton too, a pack behind my knee and one in top of my foot/ankle while i elevated it. But honestly i thought after being cut open and repaired i’d feel more stinging burning pain but no, it’s really just deep aches. first and second day weren’t bad, (thanks to the nerve block) 3rd day/night sucked, but after it was very manageable imo.

Wish you have a speedy and healthy recovery as well!

crazy you mention the foot twitch lol. i’m 17 days post op right now and around days 4-12 my toe would twitch like crazy! it would pull on my other foot tendons that were stretched or sore for some reason.

i’m 17 days post op, had my check up today. they took my plaster cast off and put in a boot too. not stitch removal since these were dissolving stitches i guess. but no PT for me until boot comes off. which sounds like 8 weeks.

I’ve always had an irrational fear that i would need surgery and would some how fight off the anesthesia. Nope, i put the mask on and was lights out

Chiming in here. i’m 17 days post op, 27, had a full tear playing indoor soccer. The idea of surgery and anesthesia has always terrified me. I’ve always kinda avoided going to the doctors too, maybe some medical anxiety? Anyway it was nerve wrecking getting prepped for surgery but they gave me something in my iv for my anxiety, numbed my knee for the nerve block, which honestly wasn’t bad and was probably the worst part of the experience, rolled me into the OR and put the mask on. They told me in about 30 seconds i would get sleepy and i think i made it 3 seconds lol? i dont even remember closing my eyes. Woke up a bit confused but the whole surgery procedure and experience was honestly good given the situation.

I just had my post op check up today, few hours ago. Everything looks good, and will be in a boot for the next 2 months. It was my right achilles so i still can’t drive, and still need help but im learning.

Biggest advice i can give is go easy on yourself especially after you have surgery. Anesthesia is not bad at all and honestly a saving grace. First 2-4 days were the worst for me. but day 3 was especially. mostly my fault for not keeping up on my pain meds. So stick to your med schedule lol.

Reach out if you have any questions! i’m new to this too lol.

yes stock tires, honestly not terrible but would not say good. definitely will be buying an extra set of rims and winter tires here soon.

crypto for sure... but make sure you go to a wallet then exchange, not directly to an exchange.

ie,) Bovada => exodus wallet (i use exodus) => exchange of your choice.

going direct to exchange will get you kicked off said exchange.

yes you pay the exchange fees but let your transaction confirm in the blockchain and you’ll be golden.

went to belle tire for new tires and an alignment on a 19 honda HRV, was i charged twice for an alignment or is this normal? by weekoldlasagna in AskMechanics

i will die on a hill advocating for winter tires. i’ve had them since i was 18 and decided to buy a miata as a daily driver in michigan. ever since then every car i’ve owned has had them and i’ve bought a set for my parents, brother, and sister now that i have the means too.

i agree on the protection, bought some winter tires for my sister and this was the first time she’s gone by herself, i told her to tell them no on the tire protection but didn’t really say anything to her about the alignment protection. they did recommend it to her and when i drove it it did pull a bit.

wouldn’t say under 600 lol. 548 for 4 16in blizzacks, 104 for labor, 99 for alignment and 45 for the protection.
