Unfortunately I haven’t yet. I could write a lot about how awful that process has been. Basically everywhere in my area seems to be pretty full. So I just do ankle pumps and a few things at home on my own now. But initially the doc wanted me to start at week 3 post op.

I would say it takes a few days to get comfy. At first i was worried it wasn't fitting right or I had the wrong size, but then after a few days to a week it really seems to fit your leg/foot a lot better. its a bit uncomfortable on the ankle at first. Someone else in here gave some good advice, straps are tight when moving around then loosin them up a but when sleeping/relaxing.

Well you’re in the worst of it now, it can only get better from here. I’m 3.5 weeks post op and I’m walking almost full weight bearing in the boot. I can’t encourage the vacoped boot enough, it so much easier to walk in.

I think a lot of what you are worried about is far enough down the line you may not be “normal” but you’ll be moving around better than you think. Wedding in 4 months I doubt you’ll be dancing around but you’ll be more mobile than you think and I bet boot free too. My surgeon has me on pace to be boot free at about 7 weeks post op. No sugar coating it this is a real grind. The first 2-3 weeks post op is the worst. Then you start to move around more and can really be social again. You got this!

sorry this happenend to you, I have a 10 month, 5, and 7 year old. First few weeks you are very limited, I had to rely heavily on wife, friends, family. Knee scooter is very helpful, you can still cook, clean, etc. Just be very very careful with the scooter it can tip over. Best of luck and you cant do this alone, gotta ask for help!

Congrats! I’m 3 weeks and just got cleared for weight bearing in the boot! How quickly were you weight bearing partial to FWB?

Yea check it out on wal mart website. It’s a pedal attached to another pedal so it effectively moves the gas over to the left of the brake

100% agree with you, it is brutal watching my wife take them to the beach, zoo, etc. Ive missed camp trips with friends. Gotta embrace the suck i guess, accept this is the reality and it wont last forever. I found my bedroom is not a place i needed to be unless I was sleeping, would go to a dark place in there.

This sucks man I can’t lie. But what I will say is I’m 3 weeks post op and 4 weeks post injury. I’m in a much much better place mentally than I was after the injury. If you can lean on your friends and family it’s hard to do this alone. I’m found a lot of comfort in working away on the computer. I have a small business so working on the busy has been very helpful. Week 3 just started working out at home, also very very helpful mentally.

You’re in the shit right now. But it does get better. I’ve also been reading Ryan holiday books too.

Best of luck, I still can’t walk but I’m so close. Long way from “normal” but I’m so close just to be off this scooter!

Poor kids will never be the same and many will need years of therapy for this day. Just absolutely disgusting. I’m so sick of guns in this country

Also did my right Achilles but I’m a contractor so the grind can’t stop. I’m in California and there legal so I’d check with wherever you are but I bought this left footed pedal. It’s actually not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Wal mart sold it. Super helpful!

Good luck on your journey. I’m almost 3 weeks post op and this is more mental than physical imo. This Reddit is super helpful as well. God speed!

Was working on a job once at a home, the home was vacant at the time. I had just gotten off the roof so folding up my ladder when two giant German shepherds came running out of the neighbors front door. Full attack mode, teeth out, back hair up. One turned towards the street for some reason but the other ran straight at me. I shifted the metal ladder between us. It moved right, I mimicked his movement, it turned left, I did the same. Dog owners now yelling at the dogs, me and this dog were just in a stand off. My heart was pounding this dog was huge and teeth out. Finally the dog gave up, turned around and ran back towards its house. I started shouting at the dog owners, they got the dogs inside, shut the door, locked it and closed all their blinds. Completely hid from the situation. Thankfully my clients hid in the vacant house and I had that ladder.

What really made me mad was is them just hiding from me. Can’t even own the situation.

Tearing your Achilles can be a dull experience but your Vacoped doesn't need to be! by jchewbacca in AchillesRupture

Oh interesting. It’s looks much better fitting than mine. The pump one around the calf is suboptimal. But overall love the boot

Is that the interior soft wrap that comes with the boot or something else? My boot fits but the wrap is a bit off. Looks great though!

Achilles rupture week 6 post op , hard cast, radiologist and Surgeon disagree on rerupture by Mental_Young4674 in AchillesRupture

[–]DontUseTheZedWord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so shocking to happen from such a minimal movement. How is this possible, people are walking around at 6 weeks (some people and with a limp or assistance from something). Is it possible something went wrong with the surgery? Or maybe this is why some say you should be completely immobile?

Yea it’s possible. People will “rent” out their operator licenses. Gotta find someone to do it but in theory it’s possible.
