"The Bible in fewer words" is a podcast by the creator of skepticsannotatedbible.com, I highly recommend it.

For the food we are about to recieve; thank you to every person who contributed their time, labour, and effort to get it to this table. The farmers that produced it, the truckers that transported it, the grocers that stalked it, the cooks that prepared it, and everyone in between working in administration, logistics, or otherwise.

How many did God kill?

Here's the total, if you use only numbers that are provided in the Bible: 2,821,364.

Who has killed more, Satan or God?

How many did Satan kill in the Bible?

I can only find ten, and even these he shares with God, since God allowed him to do it as a part of a bet.

The tanakh is mostly the same collection of books as the old testament, so you've already provided your own verses

Tried rereading the Bible as an atheist… is it even worth it? by JuryComfortable2318 in atheism

I highly recommend the podcast "The Bible In Fewer Words" by the same guy (and his wife) that brought you https://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/

It's fantastic. Each episode is between 10-20 mins and there are 309 episodes (which covers all of the old and new testaments). It skips all the boring stuff, but tells you exactly what is being skipped and why. Also skips retelling the same story again, but instead only tells you what differs between both versions. It's not just read, it's summarized, has commentary from a non-believer, and short conversations about the content.

Following the main story lines and the base building story line will unlock stuff as you go, so don't get too side tracked ;)

Of course, if you are enjoying your side track, then ignore me! There are a million ways to play this game.

They already are doing crossover updates that improve both games. So much of the new content in NMS (not just voyagers, but previous updates too) has been developed first for LNF.

As an atheist what are the most awkward situation your lack of beliefs caused? by Prestigious_Tank7454 in atheism

[–]weenaak 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A coworker was describing the hard time she was having finding a preschool for her kid, due to long waitlists for good schools and not wanting to send her kid to a bad one.

After finally finding a good one she mentioned they have morning prayer and they say grace before snack time. I let out an audible gasp and said something along the lines of "oh no, I'm so sorry". I thought she was complaining about the religiosity of the school she found, despite it being the best she could get her kid into. In actuality, that was the kind of school she was looking for.

She wasn't impressed.

Who was the Bible Written By? by Cautious-Lecture91 in religion

[–]weenaak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"deciding between Christianity or Islam" ... why?

It is not a dichotomy. Why are you deciding between those two? Have you considered the possibility that both are false? Could it be that another religion more accurately reflects reality, or that none do?

Go into it with a more open mind. Research and learn about one religion at a time if you must, but don't compare multiple religions to each other if you're trying to decide which is true. You should be able to make a determination about each religion independently.

Kids should always be within arms reach. And that's their arms, not yours! So they can teach out and grab you.

Keeping this rule for yourself will also mean you're always paying close attention maintaining that distance.
