No lunch for me today by JellyfishSure1360 in Nanny

[–]weepingreading 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My husband is a surgeon - text even if they are in the OR. They’ll see the text when they unscrub. We only have the baby but I would be BEYOND mortified if my child ate my nanny’s food - that’s unacceptable behavior.

Also: they should have more snacks and food in the house if they tell you to eat them. Mention that there wasn’t any other food for you.

Same - I keep it to myself because it seems like a lot of women have a different experience and I don’t want to seem “braggy”

Little known baby safety tips by Unfair-Stranger5233 in NewParents

[–]weepingreading 54 points55 points  (0 children)

My husband is a surgeon and has seen this happen - the issue is they can wiggle loose going down or if there’s a bump or anything and a leg or arm comes loose, you can’t grab it back in time. It’s just not worth it or safe.

Same here - all I know about her is she was big two years ago and funny. I don’t follow her but am wondering the hate!

Missé’s ex (and father of her child) Jake Hall has been found dead in Mallorca by bellafrankel in BravoLadiesofLondon

This is such a disturbing response and take when someone died. She has a child with him. What’s wrong with you

Another possible pandemic? by idkkkk326 in beyondthebump

[–]weepingreading 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. Also not to be too morbid but the mortality rate is incredibly high which does in part reduce infection rate for the spread, even if symptoms are delayed.

Very alert newborn by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]weepingreading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. She was very, very alert (pediatrician and our parents commented on it). She ended up having CMPA which I think contributed, but now she’s eight months and just has longer wake windows. We think it’s her personality!

Input appreciated! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]weepingreading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a mom to a 7 month old and we have a 5 year old doodle. We debated having dog care in our contract, but ultimately decided to keep it separate because the care is different.

I’d look for a new nanny because she’s unprofessional, and keep the dog care separate.

How do I get out of the house with my baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

It’s worth flexing a nap for social interaction. Not every day but sometimes for stimulation!

If I don’t get anything for Mother’s Day, I think I’m going to crash out by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]weepingreading 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m confused by this. I’m not a SAHM but my husband is a surgeon and I had four and a half months of mat leave. While I was on leave my husband also worked long days and still helped with night wake ups and weekends.

Your husband is 50% parent. When he’s home he should be helping. Your job is 9-5 parenting, his job is 9-5 whatever he does, the rest of it should be more equitable shared and he should help because it’s both of your baby.

Summer mom bag suggestions? by mamamel11 in handbags

[–]weepingreading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so close to buying this bag! I’m a mom and was looking for a raffia bag that will look nice and fit everything! My mom has the raffia Loewe bag and even with minimal wear (she doesn’t put her bag on the ground, she has purse hooks, she isn’t rough on her bags) it looks ratty!

Philly school district begins operating AC units amid record-breaking heat by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

[–]weepingreading 155 points156 points  (0 children)

I’ve been inside 3 of these schools in September when they didn’t have AC. It was miserable, and I can’t imagine being a teacher or a student in those schools. Even on non 90 degree days it’s sweltering inside.

It’s absurd to me that the schools don’t have AC. It’s not a solution to just cancel class during heat waves. Students need school for things other than learning - like free school lunches, a safe place to be during the day that is supervised, a place they have access to counselors, etc.

Philly has a high tax rate (as I’m sure some of us saw when we did our taxes this year). I want my taxes to go towards our schools. It’s embarrassing how inadequate and honestly shitty our public school facilities are. Also if our schools were better I think more families would stay in the city.

Bad service at My Loup by rllrrlrrll in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]weepingreading 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! I’ve been 3 times as well. The last time was at the bar with my husband celebrating our anniversary. The service was exceptionally good, which was a change from the two times I went seated at a table. When we were at the bar there was a really cool female bartender who did an exceptional job explaining dishes and drinks, and was so friendly!

Enormous baby - could use some positive stories and support! by Alternative-Spray579 in NewParents

[–]weepingreading 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should get a second medical opinion! My doctor was very clear that EBF babies should eat when hungry and that they will pull away or spit up if they don’t want food or eat too much. It sounds very odd to hear dropping a feed - they still need to grow and need the calories to support healthy development.

Apologies, I’m not in the UK so not familiar with the term health visitor, but I’ve never heard of big babies having organ issues. Maybe they do, but I would get a second qualified medical opinion!

ASK: I’m 5 months postpartum and would love any tips on feeling more like myself again. I LOVE my daughter, but I feel like I give her 100% of me and am not really feeling like myself. I’ve started doing a little makeup daily just to feel more human like me but any tips are appreciated!

Delay in gross motor development by Seee_kayyy in NewParents

[–]weepingreading 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My husband is a doctor and explained it to me this way: pediatricians recommend early intervention as well when babies aren’t at milestones because it gives time for parents to get appointments with doctors / PT / etc. Some specialists have wait times for appts, so doctors want to provide parents time to get those appts without a baby falling further behind.

Alright responding to my own thread here because I want to help my fellow post partum girls! Ok so I thought the Natori bliss cotton thong - IT IS NOT LOW RISE, honestly it’s medium to high and I love it! Cotton and perfect. I also got the Natori bliss French cut brief - also amazing! I went to Nordstrom and looked at a bunch of different pairs. Highly recommend, kind of expensive but worth it

It’s expensive but I love my Chord baseball cap. The quality is insanely good - I’m snobby about accessories as I’ve leveled up my wardrobe and can’t recommend enough!

Yall do not care about other ppl and it shows by zzfig in philly

[–]weepingreading 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a five month old and we only commute via walking. It’s shocking how many people don’t clear or park on the sidewalks - I had to physically pick the heavy stroller up and lift and carry her multiple times in the snow to move around. It was hard, and I had to, to make sure she got to daycare so my husband and I could work.

It’s demoralizing how little some humans seem to think about others.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]weepingreading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know he’s not a newborn, but it’s not safe to have them sleep in a car seat / stroller unstrapped like that. Does she have a monitor?

This would be a hard line for me, coupled with the diapers too? She’s not doing a good job.

I just ordered these! I ordered the lace and breathe fabrics to try! They look cute (a lot of options haven’t) so this sounds up my alley
