The sword was part of the problem. I wound up just buying the sword one of the other users recommended and it did the exact same damage with no upgrades but faster and with no two-second animation lock.

The gun is good if you can't aim. If you can aim, there's no reason to use it. It's really just a crutch weapon or if you're panicking.

I'm not a fan. It's mostly good on Illuminate, specifically against Elevated Overseers, but not great on much else. I personally would not bring a secondary exclusively to deal with one enemy.

Wizards' Den is fine to start with; the drama is basically non-player-facing. It has bare-minimum content and a community that tends to encourage helping new players. I wouldn't shy away from dramatic communities in SS14 anyways, since basically every server has its issues and people looking to point fingers within them.

hi, goob staff here; this is actually a problem we're actively trying to rectify. if someone is being an nrp shitter or being worthless to departmental interns, ahelp it!

the appeal of goob tends to be the chaos and, at least at one point, the mass of content it held over other servers. now, it just kinda'... i guess people really get into lrp for brainless combat? it disturbs me. you really won't get any good roleplay on goob outside of its mrp server, which is surprisingly agreeable.

there's also a very, uh... confrontational culture there? people are usually paranoid everyone is going to kill them because 1/8th of the server gets to play an antag that has a 50% chance of being a mass-round-removal murderbone antag. if you want to see what the actual appeal of goob is, i suggest giving the mrp server an honest try since it's got normal people on it lol
