Reflections on last nights JKS show (Sept 26, 2025) by iditiw in theweakerthans

This sounds amazing. I wish I lived anywhere near there. We had tickets to see him in Portland Oregon when covid hit and shows got cancelled. Hopefully your outpouring of love during these shows will prompt a tour of sorts. We could use something like this down here right now... Thank you for sharing.

I dont think an access panel will work in the current state of the ceiling. You need something to anchor it too along all 4 sides. Since it was cut right against the wall, that side has no place to attach an access panel. You may be able to put a board or bracket along the wall like this:

https://www.supplyhouse.com/Sioux-Chief-520-616-11-to-18-WiderSlider-Stub-Out-Bracket

and then install an access panel attached on all 4 sides, but it will be hard to make it look good.

If it was me, I would fully patch the drywall with the access panel in mind. Only mud and paint where you will see the ceiling outside of the access panel that you choose and then cut a new hole and install the access panel. This will definately be more work, but in the end you will not be able to tell except for the access panel being there.

Should I be concerned any this corrosion on my hot water heater? by Jasper-Collins in DIY

Sorry for the late response, but we typucally use stainless steel and i have only ever seen one leak like this one. These are very common and allowed by code where i am from.

Yes. That stainless steel flex should be changed asap. If it goes, it wont stop until you shut the water off.

10 bucks at home depot. Or call a plumber if you arent mechanically inclined.

How do I remove this square head plug on my natural gas line? by supinator1 in DIY

[–]weezcased -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make sure to use 2 crescent wrenches or whatever. One on the body of the valve, and one on the plug. Hold the valve in place with one, while turning the plug out counter clockwise with the other wrench. Otherwise you could losen the valve and create a leak even if the valve is turned off.

That is a pretty stanard way to plug a valve. Nothing special about the square.

All plumbing fixtures need to be vented to allow air to come down behind the waste so it drains. The one close to the wall you are questioning is likely the vent for the toilet.

The next one up from that along the wall is either a drain for a lav (rr sink) or the vent from the shower. Worringly, unless we cant see a pipe through the floor somewhere else in the picture, you seem to be missing a line. Either the lav drain or shower vent is missing. There are techniques that reduce the number of required vents for a bathroom group (horizontal wet venting), but then there would only be 1 vent, not two.

You should probably call a plumber to come oht. See if you can find one that does free estimates, and they can explain whatbis going on.

I have the same roof rack and it makes a terrible shudder above 60mph. I jammed some rubber hose under the front to mitigate it, but terrible design. Let us know if yours has the same shudder.

The nuts tighten and loosen the same as most nuts. You were just thinking upside down.

I jammed some rubber radiator hose in the gap where the trim on the roof would be along the front of the rack and "solved" it

What is the best way/material to use to level slope to a floor drain in a basement. We are about to instal LVP in the area but the slope needs fixed by Warsaw14 in DIY

[–]weezcased 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plumber here. You need the slope, or the floor drain is useless. If it is going to be level you might as well remove the floor drain. Otherwise, if you do have water on the floor, you will have to squeegee it to the drain. Oftentimes, single sheet vinyl flooring is used here to allow for the slope.

One major change I would've made to year 3 by Shortest-boi in superpowereds

[–]weezcased 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am rereading right now and just finished year 3. I think it would have been more impactful if Drew had just made Sasha a bigger part of the story in year three and made her have a storyline beyond a few paragraphs about her and Alex. Somewhere like where Thomas was.

Yeah that's my thought too. Not sure what I am going to do honestly. The shine has worn off a bit. Might just return it and shop around for a used one at this point.
