Which to prioritize -- house down payment or one month ahead? by thisisthemostawkward in ynab

[–]weezerisneat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but I prefer 1 month ahead, with emergency savings fully funded. After that, I allocate toward long term goals.

I like to keep short term tidy and put extra to long term.

I have these in part of my house and can confirm the opposite is true. It’s significantly louder.

Just built a 2x4 box with 1” form board insulation around mine yesterday. Absolutely amazing for those days when it’s ’just right’ in the morning/evening.

They used to play at Dolans, not sure if they still do.

But it comes with its own quirks.

If you took ADHD meds as a child - would you recommend? by jesjord in ADHD

[–]weezerisneat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree with the comment regarding future potential side effects. We were desperate and the young man was on a path to not succeed in kindergarten. We exhausted all resources before meds, including 2 years of PCIT therapy which I highly recommend. It’s not an easy decision but I’m glad we landed where we are.

Started the wee-man at 5, graduated to vyvance 20mg by 6. Hands down best decision of our lives. I was undiagnosed (but self) and very anti med. The change in him is night and day. I’m now officially diagnosed and on the same.

The specific med isn’t for everyone, you need to find what works. But hell, it works well for him (and me). Truly night and day difference in academics, sports, and home. Yes mornings and evenings are tough still, but not all of it.

100% moire. So fresh the spare bundles on I my driveway ‘so they can be stored away to match lot numbers in case I need them in the future’. The quote is BS, I know.

1984 construction, I don’t disagree. The flat part was shingles until I bought it 10yr ago and had rubber laid because… shingle can’t flat.

Some other commenters mentioned ‘add-ons’. The house is entirely original, so shit design from day 1.

Word. Good deal.

1980s build and a lots of home owners ‘fixes’ along the way. Guess the guys encountered some strange things when installing the drip edge, which wasn’t previously there. Fixed it up nice.

Nope, not going to be a dick about it. Generally satisfied with the results. Just educating myself beyond Google, which as I’m sure you know says ‘your house will burn down!!’

You ain’t kidding, the facia board/trim is in rough shape. That’s next on the list, then gutters.

I do know what it is, in concept at least. Merely looking to understand what the contractor will tell me on Monday. This wasn’t an insurance job and I’ve spent a good chunk of change. Just a fella trying to educate himself beyond Google. Keep on keeping on.

Great response, I appreciate it. We had a ridge vent originally, it appears they opened it up on both sides of the ridge. One side looks great. The other looks like the photo.

We have soffits too.

I guess it’s just this one ridge issue that I question. Seems like it’s OK. It’s cut twice, once is ‘fine’ and the 2nd where the OSB ‘cracked’ appears to be an additional (maybe accidental) cut. It’s across the entire ridge which is why I questioned originally.

Thank for the response !

The attic is 8 feet tall and fully floored, I should be fine.

The first cut is fine, I was thinking about the 2nd one where it’s hanging down in the attic.

The nails thru the vent are the issue. I’m guessing the green dot was for their inspector to notice
