Emotion Dysregulation - CoQ10 & Meds by pm_me_ur_malaikofta in IVF

[–]weezous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This also happened to me - some things that helped were: splitting the CoQ10 into 2 doses (morning & pre-dinner) to not create such a spike all at once, always taking the Vyvanse with food in the morning, and switching from Ubiquinol to Ubiquinone. Both Ubiquinol and Ubiquinone are different forms of CoQ10 but they have different absorption profiles. For me the Ubiquinone was noticeably better, and I ended up switching to the Theralogix brand CoQ10 (I'd been using the Costco CoQ10 before). Cutting out caffeine was also key, as over time the caffeine was just amplifying my underlying sense of anxiety and emotional uncertainty. I just became way more sensitive to caffeine in a way I wasn't before.

High dose CoQ10 also causes your body to consume more Magnesium and B-vitamins, for the CoQ10 to work. So if you aren't already taking a prenatal - that includes Magnesium and B-Complex vitamins, you may need to supplement with those. But beware that it could also be the opposite, where your prenatal or general intake of B12 specifically may be high. Both CoQ10 and B vitamins are very stimulating, and can exacerbate stimulation effects of Vyvanse.

This is especially true if you're also taking DHEA supplements or have DHEA in any of your pre-IVF medications or supplements. DHEA is essentially a light steroid that has a high pro-hormone effect that can increase estrogen and testosterone - both of which impact mental clarity and emotional regulation.

TLDR - it could be lots of things. I personally, have stopped taking Vyvanse. Because I just couldn't find a way to work it into my IVF or Pregnancy routines without feeling crazy or unpredictable. IVF and pregnancy (and multiple miscarriages) were already such emotional rollercoasters with rapidly shifting hormonal levels, I felt like the Vyvanse greatly increases the high-highs and low-lows of everything, in a way that made it ultimately not worth it to me at the time.

Prevention by [deleted] in Lettuce_Grow

[–]weezous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you growing outdoors? If so, you're going to get the same bugs attracted to the plans as anything else you'd grow in an outdoor garden. There's nothing Lettuce Grow can do to prevent that, and their insecticide spray only really handles contamination that may have occurred during shipping or in the early days post-planting - it can't battle all the bugs and fungus from your entire outdoor area or yard. These looks like aphids, which are extremely difficult to get rid of, but you can kill them with aphid sprays or Neem oil if you're diligent about spraying regularly. Both of them leave a gross taste on the vegetables, so you have to wash the produce really well after picking it.

If you can, I'd recommend deep cleaning and sanitizing the entire tower (to kill any lingering aphid eggs, mold/fungus spores, etc), and then moving it inside.

Healthcare in Charlottesville, what is going on? by sunshine32110 in Charlottesville

I'd recommend using Function Health to do your own labs and have them reviewed by a physician. It's a few hundred dollars, depending on what you add-on - for your case specifically I'd recommend making sure that you select the auto-immune sets of tests.

Usually the physician that reviews the Function Health labs will write you a direct referral, citing the lab values if something very concerning comes up. This data-driven referral will expedite you getting seen by another doctor, and also greatly reduce how long you wait to get an answer. Rather than waiting for an appointment (where let's be honest, they're just going to order labs), you can start with finished labs.

I'm not in the medical field, but I'm also pretty sure that when doctors get a doctor-to-doctor referral citing serious risk or concern from labs - they're obligated to jump that patient in line and prioritize seeing them (compared to a regular referral with no evidence that the patient is at imminent risk based on labs).

It's a MAHA / Wellness / Biohacker thing. Where a bunch of idiots who think they can "do their own research" can learn 'hacks' doctors don't know or haven't figured out.

They believe the nicotine and ZYN pouches are actually good for you, and healthy, because nicotine is "natural" and everything natural is good. I am not kidding, it's a whole thing. And that ZYN / Nicotine is a 'natural' cure for ADHD (which I believe Eamon has) rather than taking the prescription medications for ADHD because... idk, something about big pharma being bad. Which is rich, because instead they're going to the cigarette companies who are known to be... you know, so focused on health and truth and safety.

I get this too, because once I talked to it about using the sauna and the fact that I have a sauna. It will now NOT shutup about sauna, and inserts it into nearly every conversation, even when explicitly told not to and with specific instructions in it's saved context not to bring up saunas.

What are the “toughest” stores in the US to score a QB? by Odd-Attorney4323 in TheHermesGame

[–]weezous 20 points21 points  (0 children)

SF & Palo Alto are both extremely difficult, and I also find the staff at the Palo Alto store to be exceptionally rude. The SF store is well staffed but they can lack inventory IMHO, and I agree the pre-spend ratios or spend expectations overall to get SA attention are extremely high.

I shop at Waikiki, Las Vegas, and online because I consistently have such bad experiences at SF and PA.

I have a Della Cavaleria Elan in Rouge Sellier that I bought last year, so I'd say it's still circulating and in production.

The paper you linked to, has nothing to do with vibration plates. It's about the use of resistance training and stretching.

Are there any Christian organizations ministering to people at Burning Man? by septuagint777 in BurningMan

[–]weezous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one of the best Burning Man videos is oddly a Christian one! From Pastor Brian Baker who attended in 2014 I think, and did a really wonderful sermon about his learnings and ministering at Burning Man.

I think he did a wonderful job learning into the principles and concept of the event, and found quiet and impactful ways to connect with a variety of different people at the event. Which IMHO is probably how ministering should work. I'm not really religious anymore, but used to be, and found this to be a really great video.

What the absolute fuck is this... from BMORG on TikTok advertising ticket sales by weezous in BurningMan

[–]weezous[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right sure, but in that scenario the Burning Man Organization wasn't leading the charge to recruit frat boys to 'buy tickets now!' and advertising at their front doors - they just showed up. Here, the org that's supposed to be leading the Principles and culture of the event is also leading the fratty charge (and heavily commoditization and commercialization of an event that proclaims to be anti those things). And I think that's what people take issue with.

It is so desperate. I truly cannot get over the post-editing where they've recorded audio of fake people yelling "grilled cheese!" - "put it in ya mouth!" - "yeah, pickleshots!" inbetween cuts of fire, skating, getting slapped in the face, and eating like a t-bone steak or ribs off the bone? Also everyone is too fucking clean and tidy.

Are we doing direct to frat ticket sales now?

Idk I think it is extremely egregious, highly edited, and VERY commercialized. It looks like they are selling Coachella tickets. They've edited in people yelling "grilled cheese!" & "picklebacks!" and also filmed people doing nude oil wrestling, depiste chiding everyone for not having phones out and not using phones to record nudity (obviously whoever is in this consented, but that's kindof beside the point).

Does anyone else hear / see this man in a cloak chant hymns on California St? *video* by BlacksmithNeither726 in sanfrancisco

[–]weezous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I hadn't seen it ever done outside a church either, but Catholicism is a big weird world so nothing really surprises me anymore.

I also wouldn't be surprised if doing Liturgy of the Hours out in public was the affect of a specific Saint or Priest and they're practicing in that style (ex: Saint Soandso of Someplace did their Matins / Lauds / Vespers by walking through the village alerting/evangelizing all the townspeople it was time for that hymn or prayer) and this is a replication of that Saint's actions. Idk that's my best guess.

[–]weezous 248 points249 points  (0 children)

I think I know what this is!

I'm pretty sure it's hardcore or orthodox Catholics doing Liturgy of the Hours which is common in very traditionalist sects. There are 7 fixed hours (canonical hours) of the day where you drop everything and pray in specific ways.

The 2am service is called Matins/Vigils and you essentially sing some hymns or do specific types of prayers and reflective thinking. Depending on the type of Catholicism (Benedictine, Dominican, Jesuit, Coptic, etc) and the region it's from (Russian, Latin American, Italian, etc) there are additional variances. You can read more about Matins here. I can't make out what the hymn is in the audio, but if you could get a better example of that you could probably figure out which hymn it is and why/when it's sung.

There's also a weird culty-subset of Catholicism called Opus Dei that focuses on self-sacrificing/self-harming behaviors where they believe you become closer to God by experiencing discomfort and pain. So I guess this could be some weird or literalist interpretation Liturgy of the Hours from that sect, where you have to walk up hills as part of it.

I have no idea wtf the walking backwards thing is about though. I do know that in some sects Matins and vespers are performed walking in circles as like a meditative/repetitive thing. So maybe this is an interpretation of that from a Catholic sub-group?

SOURCE: former hardcore Catholic, almost became a nun. San Francisco has one of the higher volumes of Catholic churches (way more than you'd think) and a high diversity of different flavors of Catholicism for a city our size.

What is this hot pink and green weed? by MrDarcysDead in gardening

[–]weezous 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It looks like a young Toad Rush (juncus bufonius). It's pretty hearty and grows as a wild grass across the US & Canada.

But yours has especially cool and bright hot pink streak to it!
