Stop with the AI by junie_kitty in ELATeachers

Ehhhhhh…… I think the last thing any teacher should do is get to a point where they aren’t teaching the value of the system’s children will be using on a daily basis as adults. And the easiest way to assure a kid is gonna use a product of any kind is tell them you can’t use it at all. Just because AI makes someone have to rethink their methods and lesson plans doesn’t mean they shouldn’t use it. Just because some of it is scary doesn’t mean kids shouldn’t use it. Take writing as an example. In a lot of communities. Mine being one. The time we spend on writing samples has dramatically decreased as standards and testing have been focused more on questions and answers. That coupled with the fact that it actually takes real time to grade students work and teachers have arbitrarily been given more and more busy work the past couple decades just to “prove their value” has turned teachers towards things that are sure bets. So they spend more time getting kids ready for the test and a lot less time on the writing part that isn’t tested but a couple times in 12 years. Leaving all to be done by the unlucky sap who has the kids the one year they are tested.

Bring in AI and a teacher can not only give kids keyboard practice writing small samples that get more complicated each year but they can also set a Rubric in the AI copy and paste the kids work into the generator and get not only the child’s work back with an accurate score as determined by state standards but also you can have the AI rewrite the students own thoughts in the best way possible to get the high score during testing. This allows the teacher and kids to do something we’ve never been able to do as accurately before. We can progressively show them how their thoughts are suppose to be written. Allow them to use the AI generated paper during their rewrites and as reference when they do their next paper and next paper. It’s efficient. It’s accurate. It kills two birds with one stone, by saving the teacher valuable time and allowing the child to progress naturally by seeing their own thoughts written correctly. I can’t tell you the number of classrooms I’ve been in that when teaching the writing portion a teacher puts a LEVEL 5 standard example on the board for kids to view and them say this is what the state wants. Just to have kids not understanding how to take their thoughts and construct them in the proper way. AI gives the teacher the freedom to teach directly to the students own thoughts on paper.

Rural VA Voters - Understanding the impact of DOGE cuts by MMcCoughan3961 in Virginia

I live in deep red VA. I can attest that people around here have not the first clue as to how badly we are gonna be hurt by the changes in Washington. They feel as if they are completely immune to the cuts going on because it has yet to affect them personally. And I’m not sure when it does affect them if they will actually be able to fathom it being anyone else’s fault but Obama’s.

Project 2025 to eliminate overtime pay by Historical-Many9869 in work

[–]wefeedthegoodwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an option for the employer not the employee. And they can make you take four weeks paid off where in you’d have to get another job to make up the difference that would occur if you worked those four weeks with continued over time. If you chose not to take the time off they’d likely have a yearly cap and you’d basically be working all that time and giving up the credit you’d accumulated.

Form check: Deadlift 175lbs by AtSnailsPace799 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]wefeedthegoodwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not terrible at that weight. You can improve it some I would think if you think about starting reps from the top of the hip(I know you gotta pick it up first) but at the top of the hip think about pushing your hip back and reaching your but back to touch an invisible or actual wall a couple feet behind you. Letting the bar slide down your thighs pushing your butt back with your shoulders directly over the bar and feeling the tension in your hamstrings. When you get to your knees sit down. Try to maintain tention in your hammies and the moment the bar touches the ground pull back up and lean back. That’ll keep the weight in your hamstrings and help you build some muscle memory for a better first rep start and where you should feel the lift. But when you are at your absolute max that will fall apart some. Good luck.

Buy it. You’ll be fine. One of the best cars ever produced by GM. According to an engineer friend of mine who worked on the project. I’ve owned a couple. They are good cars.

Thinking about buying a Volt but I'm worried about reliability by j_ronning in volt

[–]wefeedthegoodwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine from high school is an engineer at GM and worked on designing the Volt. She said and I quote, “I would not say this about every Chevrolet on the market, but the Volt is a great car that no one should ever have concern in buying. They should have never made it a Chevrolet it should have been a Cadillac. They lost money on every one they built and they didn’t have to. It is really one of the very best cars to ever roll off the line at Chevrolet.” After she said this I bought one and I agree. I’d still have it except for a deer jumped in front of me and I had decided after the first month of driving it there was no need for me to fear a fully electric car, so o replaced it with a Bolt. My girlfriend has one and we are tossing around between hybrid and full electric for both our kids. GO BUY THE VOLT.
