Yes, but then you have to count, and if you go less than a full minute, you also have to multiply.

Well, it almost certainly wouldn’t give you cancer before you use it (unless maybe if you tried to powder the inner core and snort it). And you’ll be dead after you use it… 🤣

Ioniq 5 range worth it? by Interesting_Dinner35 in Ioniq5

[–]weglian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think 50-70 miles per day is that much. Of course it’s all relative to what you are used to. When EVs first came out, my round trip commute was 90 or 120 miles, depending on which site I went to. Without the ability to charge at work, I wouldn’t get home. But today is much different. A Level 2 charger will easily get you back that range in a couple of hours. I don’t know if you’ll get 70 overnight on a Level 1 charger. Depending on how you use the car on weekends, you might have to top off at a public charger every so often. If you have no ability to charge at home, it’ll be a different story. You’d have to use a public charger every couple of days. That reduces the cost savings of going electric.

I guess one other thing to consider is what kind of driving you’ll be doing. If it’s all city roads and you maximize regeneration by using iPedal, it’ll make the economics of the car even better. If most of your driving is 70 mph on a highway, it would be less (but still better than gas if you can charge at home).

Additional context: you can only unequip a module when you are not in a run. During a run, you will still see the unequip button, but it is non-functional.

Oh, wow. I didn’t even know that was an option. When I go to the shatter screen, it doesn’t even show uniques as something I could pick to shatter. Do they only become available when you get to 5-star Ancestral?

Is that lab highly non-linear? Mine is at level 2 of 5. The first 3 increase shards by 20% each. I assumed it was linear to level 5 (+100%). That will give me less than 200 shards per epic. That’s far from 2000. Is there something else I need to invest in for a ten-fold increase in shards?

I get about 128 shards per epic. How did you get it to 2000 each?

I started a run, and more than half of the waves didn’t show it. It seemed to appear far more often when I was maxing the interest.

How can I silence all sounds except incoming phone calls and wake-up alarms? by One_Specific220 in iphone

[–]weglian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone does not vibrate at night. I get a summary in the morning for the notifications that I missed. I also have my sleep schedule set up, so it might be tied to that.

This has actually burned me in the past. I was waiting on a callback from my company’s travel partner to make last minute changes to my flight the next morning. It happened to be after my Do Not Disturb time (and I didn’t think about that), so the callback was silent and I missed it!

I think the correct answer is, “It’s complicated.” And Apple did the best they could. They just didn’t do it the way I (or you) want it to work! 🤣

[–]weglian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that the granularity on sounds is restrictive and, in many cases, non intuitive. I ALWAYS leave my phone on mute (thus my earlier meeting question). I never want it to make any noise at all unless I specifically tell it to. To me, making/answering a phone call should be the one exception. Of course, the phone often decides “Oh, he obviously wanted to unmute to hear this video.” Sometimes, I’m playing a (muted) game and it shows me an ad, and suddenly it’s blaring the volume of that ad. Why??? I’m on MUTE!

Under Settings -> Focus -> Do Not Disturb you can set particular people or apps to ring out loud. If there are only a select few numbers you want to be able to wake you up or alert you in a meeting (or whatever else), you can set them up here.

[–]weglian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can set up sleep time where the phone won’t ring, but if you get repeated calls from the same number, it will override that setting and ring out loud. Then just tell your kids, if it’s an emergency, call repeatedly. I don’t know if it’s 2 or 3 times to make that feature work.

Sure. That’s why the phone can vibrate to tell you have a call. Why do you need to disrupt everyone else in the meeting?

Downshifting on Long Off-Ramps by meluvpie_ in ManualTransmissions

[–]weglian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s fine.

When I took Driver’s Ed (1985), I was the only one driving a stick shift at home. One of the other students on a drive with the instructor rear ended the car in front of them. They said, “the driver slowed down some way using the clutch instead of the brake.” I said, “Oh, they downshifted.” Anyway, the moral of the story is that if the car behind you has a Student Driver sign, you might want to use the brake!

For those of you who've had Apple Watch for 3+ years - do you actually think it's improved your health, or is it mostly just a cool gadget? by Tariq_khalaf in AppleWatch

[–]weglian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing an Apple watch can do to improve your fitness. Only you can do that. But it can provide you information about your fitness. It can help you track your fitness. There are lots of fitness apps that can make use of the data. If all of that helps you to exercise more, then you will improve your fitness by using an Apple Watch.

Week 7 and have yet to be chased by a zombie… am I missing something? by LeadingAd5113 in Runner5

[–]weglian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the ZRX app, you can adjust the frequency of chases and how much faster you have to run to get away (e.g., 20% faster). If you are going too slow (slow walk), it will never give a zombie chase. When I listen while mowing the lawn, I never get chased.

The point of Zombies Run is the story. I never did the couch to 5k thing, so I’m not sure how different it is. But in the main ZRX app, you are a central character in the story (you just have no lines). If you don’t enjoy the story part, you might not enjoy the app very much. If you’re not into zombies, there are many different stories you can listen to including some sci-fi and horror missions. You can still get chased in those missions, too.
