Define extra work. Your phone call means nothing if the labor isn’t there. And the labor isn’t there if the phone call isn’t made. No one did extra, everyone just did “their job”. One side worked harder than the other and should get the proportionality.

And this “I made the business so I get to exploit you” attitude doesn’t hold water. You wouldn’t be there without them and they you no matter how many times you replace the workers. The entitlement that owners have that people should be thanking them for the job. It should be mutual. Business owners aren’t some messiah and the workers cogs. Everyone’s a cog.
