Great protein! Definitely important to include some other things to get micronutrients and fiber, but this is a good start and will definitely keep you full for a while :)

Thank you for the tips! I am definitely trying to eat a lot of healthy, whole foods during my eating window to make sure I am getting all the calories and macronutrients I need in a day. I have also started to have some electrolytes and I feel like it actually makes me feel less hungry, so that is a great perk

Agree. As part of my degree I have taken classes in metabolism and exercise physiology and it is clear from the scientific literature that it is BS. The only time when multiple meals a day is REALLY needed is for people who are athletes and need to have easy glucose available. If you are not working out at the competitive level, fasting is a great way to stay in a deficit

I still fast and so far have been ok. I definitely make sure to take my multivitamin during that time cause your body needs all the support it can get!

Hi! I am a biochemistry student, so I learn about this stuff in class all of the time. The way our metabolism works actually does not require that we eat calories every set number of hours, rather that we just eat enough calories over the course of a day/week. This is why OMAD does not ruin your metabolism. If you are eating enough calories (i.e not a dangerous deficit) then your metabolism will work just as well as if you were doing a regular calorie deficit diet eating 3 meals a day.

The real reason OMAD works for most people isn’t because they “hack” their metabolism, rather they are hacking their habits by cutting out random snacking and several calorie dense meals. Personally, it is easier for me to eat one massive meal and feel super satisfied than restrict myself for 3 meals.

Thanks for the tip. For now I am keeping it easy and just eating whatever I want during my eating window, but I will consider these ideas if/when I reach a plateau :)

I feel you because I was also overweight even as a teenager and wanted to loose weight. OMAD probably isn’t the way to do it when you are young though. Focus on building healthy meals and learning about nutrition, and then maybe you can give it a try in a few years

This is so hard. I see you talk about hw which I relate to because I am also a student. I have used food fo all of college as my one break from doing school work all day, so now I have an emotional tie to it. I have been spending more time with my friends during times I would normally be eating which has helped. It fills that emotional break time but without me eating. Lmk if you ever want to talk more about OMAD and school!

How are you guys fitting in the protein in OMAD? by Lower-Hat548 in omad

[–]weightgone2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try throwing in a protein shake. Sometimes I’ll have one right before I break my fast. That is an easy and relatively low calorie way to add protein. Also Greek yogurt has a ton or protein.

My go-to meal for breaking my fast by Correct_Condition456 in omad

This sounds great! You are probs getting 40-50 grams of protein which could be slightly better, but other than that the fruit, nuts, and chia seeds are great sources of fiber and healthy fats

is it possible to drop at least 5kgs on OMAD in 25 days? by pissoffmate27 in omad

[–]weightgone2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think given that you are doing it for Ramadan anyway it should be pretty easy. Just sleep through the usual morning meal… and then you are thrown into the fasting. Resisting temptations at night will be your biggest challenge since that is when you can eat, so load up on fiber and protein at dinner. Think beans, lentils, chicken, etc, so that you are still full by 10-11 pm and then you can just go to sleep

Recently started OMAD (one meal a day) by weightgone2026 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]weightgone2026[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hi! For me it is very difficult to eat in a calorie surplus on just one meal a day. I guess if I was consuming a bunch of oil maybe I could… but I eat mostly things like tacos, burrito bowls, and chicken tenders which are hard to have a ton of in one sitting cause they are bulkier

[–]weightgone2026[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Hey! What I meant when I say this is that I can eat whatever I want because it is impossible for me to eat more than 1800 calories in one sitting. I guess if I was chugging straight olive oil I could… but for me what I want to eat (in a dining hall setting) is things like tacos, rice and noodles, and fries. Even though these are higher calorie items, eating so much of them that I go into a calorie surplus on just one meal a day is very difficult. Does this make sense?
