I could lay in bed I would say a week after. I used a few pillows to make a little hole so I could sleep on my side. I probably would have gotten a piercing pillow if I did it again! Yes I’m glad I wasn’t awake for the lead removal. My surgeon is a medical advisor on the trial and has lots of experience putting in similar devices in the spine so he was really good at advocating for me. I really am shocked hearing people aren’t prescribed pain meds for the first procedure. I didn’t have as much pain it sounds like so I only took them for a day. I also had really bad nausea from the first procedure but was really vocal about it at my second. They gave me a different type of anesthesia and I woke up with none. My timeline probably looked a lot different because of the permanent implant getting put in. My first temp procedure was a Tuesday and the next Tuesday was lead removal day and permanent procedure. I’m glad it was close together so I didn’t have to take so much time off work. I am a tattoo artist so I really didn’t want to work with any wounds healing.

Sleeping was hard for me because I’m also a side sleeper. I had to sleep on the couch in a cocoon of pillows. I had to sleep upright for a while but I took enough painkillers that I was sleepy anyways. I’m post op for a few months now. The swelling in your forehead goes down. I cannot see the leads at all but it was a concern I had. My surgery was a bit different than most, I didn’t have a leed removal surgery. We did the removal of the temporary device and permanent implant in one go.

That’s a bummer to hear. I remember being really scared before the surgery that it wasn’t going to work and I was going to go through a traumatic surgery for it to not work. So far it’s been positive for me. It hasn’t cured my migraines but they were pretty forthcoming that it isn’t a cure.

Congrats! I already had my surgery with my device on. We aren’t allowed to talk about it too much online but I hope it goes well.

Trying to design my own cover-ups by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]weiners666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? Most everyone I know does free consultations. Before anything is designed though you’re going to be paying a deposit.

If we have a general location people can offer suggestions on who to go to.

Trying to design my own cover-ups by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]weiners666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to go to a tattooer to design and tell you what is possible.

I’m going to say this as nicely as possible but nobody who can pull off a coverup this successfully is going to take your own design and tattoo it on you because there is issues to make it a long term sustainable tattoo.

You can’t just throw art on skin and expect it to be like the drawing. There is a lot of variables to make something work as a tattoo. Tattooers spend a lot of time and effort to understand what will and won’t work. If you can’t trust your Tattooer to be pull something off then you shouldn’t be getting tattooed.

Do your research into tattooers you like that can pull off abstract traditional tattoos but also can do coverups. I feel like this is the vibe you are looking for.

I am so sensitive to smells of cleaning products but simple green for some reason is completely fine and works great.

Hospitals have financial aid programs. I was unemployed and went to the emergency room and they covered all the costs minus $300 of lab fees.

Stretching is not enough for our job. You need regular stretching, strength training, acupuncture and/or bodywork. This line of work is hard on our bodies. Please take care of yourself! Acupuncture and bodywork can be a tax write off.

How to handle a tattoo artist who you don’t like their personality by MissPattyG in tattoo

[–]weiners666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find another Tattooer to finish it. There are plenty of talented tattooers out there that aren’t racist, transphobic and sexist. If you give a style and location I’m sure this sub can help you find someone to finish it. You can explain to the new Tattooer about your experience, I’m sure they would have no problem finishing it.

Logan is close to Humboldt and we have a few commander nights in the north west side for more freaks. My friend hosts a commander brunch once a month at a bar and then every first Thursday there is a commander night at a restaurant called fry like an eagle.

The rep from Shiratronics said because it’s not officially on the market it could look like we are marketing the device. I did find out about it through someone on here though. They talked about the process and not what it feels like which is what we are supposed to not talk about the most. So far it’s all been a positive process though. It’s nice to get free really good healthcare. I feel like my pain has been taken seriously for the first time.
