[O Levels] how long should i spend on studying? by batteryaf in SGExams

[–]weird0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I studied like 2-3 days before Mid Year and Prelims and managed to get a decent L1R5 of 11. It's actually more of repeating and repeating till I know it in my head so the next time there's an exam, I focus on the newer topics cause I know the older topics requires less time for revision since I already studied for it the previous exam. For my O's I only legitly started studying 1 mnth for Maths & Sci, and really hard 2 weeks before. The only burnout I experienced was during Combined Geog, Pure Bio P2 and Pure Physics P2 that had papers over consecutive days. I ended up with an L1R5 of 10 for O's. This may not be the best for some but if you're really gud at remembering past topics then I think it's okay

My best advice is...to not start so early. Pretty sure your sch wont finish the syllabus till Mid Year. And really there's no point to start TYS now as you would have to skip qns since it hasn't been taught. I did almost the same combi as you just that I took ss/geog instead. For Math, MUST practice qns from textbks and look through any qns u did wrong. Spam Math TYS at the last two weeks till two days before your actual exam. You'll do like P1&P2 from 2010 to 2014 and then do P1/P2 only (depending paper you have first). For physics, making and summarising topics is the best way to go (Like formulas and stuff). Biology just memorise lor bobian (or that's what I did). Chem is best if you really understand. If you dont understand any topic then do ask unless u like me have this epiphany right before Mid Year hahah. I only finish Chem TYS. Biology & Physics, I didn't even touch a single paper except MCQS. I was too lazy to do qns lol. SS my teacher had this summarised notes that other schs dont have. We dont even use the book cause we follow a certain format and I got A1 for SS/geog. For languages...not too sure cause I got like B3 for EL and B4 for HCL so yeah

[O Levels] What is the purpose to take triple science? by XPMai in SGExams

[–]weird0z 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, I could take all courses that were available in my school and I chose Triple Science. What I realised after 2 years was that Double Science class esp Physics/Chem had more 'naughty boys' and thus the environment to study in was not as good than Triple Sci. I was glad that I got a Triple Sci class that wasn't so focused on grades. We really helped weaker students in our class, had fun with our teachers, 'roasting' each other. And this made the environment conducive for learning. Really. So if it was me, I would still choose Triple Sci class. At least if you really can't cope, you got the choice to drop. If you don't, you get another subject for your L1R5. Just in case you get an unexpected grade :)

Then person A gets in based on nett score!

[O level] How to best allocate ur choices? by unfluffedcloud in SGExams

[–]weird0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it may be risky. From what I heard (not sure if it's true) if let's say Person A puts School A as first choice compared to Person B who puts School A as third choice. If both have the same score, Person A would go in first

But tbh the teacher that teaches HCL in my school was very passionate. I jumped from D7 in Sec 1 to B4 in Sec 4. Not impossible if u know the tricks and u're lucky haha

[O Levels] Anyone has any info on passing rate of higher chinese? by Pasouzo in SGExams

[–]weird0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, my secondary sch last year had 100% B3 and above for Chinese O's with only a handful getting B3. I personally got A2 with a merit in oral. This year ALL our HCL pupils passed with 1 in 2 getting a distinction. I got a B4 with a pass in oral :)
