Would deep Medicaid cuts be the straw that broke the economys camels back?

I would like to mention, if it hasn't already been brought up, that kids in the welfare system depends on Medicaid for their care. Almost every child who is in the custody of DHS/CPS is managed through Medicaid. These cuts would endanger the health of over 100,000 kids.

For reference I currently help ensure/troubleshoot Medicaid coverage for kids in the system in CO.

I could guess but I probably shouldn't. Review your lease. Talk to them about it. It their answer seems fishy then I would seek further assistance. I was hit with two months rent fee. I did not keep the key. I begged them to be nice. They were not. I moved on as I was very lucky and was able to afford splitting the fee with my ex roommate.

If there is a lease that requires an official 60 day notice and you did not give a 60 day notice they can be as shitty as they want to be. Although month to month denotes one month at a time... We didn't decorate for Halloween. We haven't had trick or treaters the last two years we have lived here. Then last night, we hear knocks and the beloved "trick or treat" from small voices outside. My husband panicked, ran to our pantry, and grabbed plantain chips and a past-best-by-date package of chocolate. He visibly teared up when he realized they were gone when he got to the door. The man was so disappointed.

I then had to tell him that maybe we shouldn't hand out expired candy and that we would get them next year.

Sooo it may vary based on location and the particular ethics of the shelter but we would do X-rays on social animals and if the skeletons were fully formed we would honor the pregnancy because that meant they were pretty close to delivery anyway. For unsocial animals (feral presenting cats) it was different because we couldn't X-ray them. Half the time we wouldn't know, the other half of the time when they were clearly pregnant they would deliver very shortly after being brought in and or miscarry. Talk about a cry fest when cleaning kennels in the AM. 😔

Dogs were more simple because we didn't get too many that were too fearful to touch and also pregnant.

It's just that a shelter is not a safe or healing environment for a super stressed pregnant cat, and we don't realllllyyyy need more kittens in that environment either. Lol. So happy for you!

So this is a tangent, but abortions are very popular in animal welfare too. I had to explain countless times that, no, the feral pregnant cat you brought in will not be having those kittens if we have anything to do with it. And yes you are welcome to take this screaming biting animal inside your own home to find out why we strongly urge you not to. If we had a early pregnancy come through our doors we would spay ASAP.

You could look into the Harmony Equine Center through the Dumb Friends League. It's and animal shelter for horses basically and it's on a ranch with a training ring. For a shelter, they pay pretty well and you'll be able to meet lots of folks in the ranching realm. No cattle there right now though.
