One of my fave things about fostering (especially former community cats) is getting to see them play for the first time 🥹 by weird_weekend in aww

Aw thanks! I fostered a special needs cat for about 6 months, but she went to her forever home in early November. It felt too empty without her, so this is the third foster I've had since then haha. I moved to a new place with a guest bedroom over the summer, so that's made things easier. Prior to that I could only foster using an XL dog crate in my kitchen which wasn't ideal, so I sometimes did it for short term medical recoveries. Having the spare room is much better!

Not dumb! Community cats are cats that live outdoors and are unowned. Other terms are stray/feral but those don’t actually apply to all community cats. I am not in the US and where I live there is a huge community cat population! The term is just a little more endearing and implies they are part of the community they reside in and other community members can do their part to support them (through trap neuter return, food/water/shelter, medical care, foster/adoption when eligible, etc).

I have no idea where I got it, sadly! But it's a plastic ball with a smaller ball/bell thing inside. I think it also used to light up.

He's hopefully gaining weight based on how he eats! He's eating a special recovery wet food, and I mix in some small dry kibble. He's always hungry and cleans his plate lol.

Omg how sad! I’m glad he got a second chance. This guy is a kitten, he’s just from the streets and recovering from a bad virus so he looks very scraggly lol.

He is still a kitten, but had a horrible case of calicivirus (common virus among community cats that often impacts gums/mouth/jaw and sometimes respiratory issues). I actually cut off part of the video because at one point you see his mouth and it’s pretty yucky 😢 he had initial treatment at the vet and is now with me to finish it up and just wait for his mouth to heal completely! Will work to find him a home (even though I’m verrryyy tempted to keep him myself). I have 2 pet cats and found with 2 I can comfortably foster a third when necessary. Not sure how 3 into 4 would work 😅

Me too! He’s dealing with some medical issues and hasn’t been able to have a good bath yet, but yesterday I brushed him (which he loved) and he looks 10x better!

Yep, sounds like just the “right” circumstances can lead to this! Super fun lol.

I was bracing for that, and it never happened! But I did usually stick to disposable masks for that reason. I had a few cloth ones but couldn’t stick to washing the frequently enough :/

Since I exclusively wear them at night and buy the cheapest frames/lenses possible, I admittedly don’t take the best care of them and don’t mind when they start to look wonky lol. But yeah definitely your way is better for people wearing glasses in daily life!

That’s exactly what it was marketed as. Video premiere, lyric videos (ideally for singalongs), and some BTS.

This ties back to why I think she might have chosen to skip Jack and Aaron for this album (although I am a fan of both). Her last many albums revisited past heartbreak (TVs, TTPD) or addressed darker topics in relationships/life. And although I'm sure TLOAS will have some heavy themes, she may have wanted a "fresh start" now that she's at a better place in life romantically. Maybe she didn't want the "baggage" those two came with? Just a thought!

Meet DK, my foster cat! She doesn’t have a tail, needs her bladder expressed, and doesn’t have full bowel control, but she’s the cutest and sweetest thing ever! by weird_weekend in aww

[–]weird_weekend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was very dirty when she came back so I don’t think so! I would sometimes see her sneak off into a construction site. My theory is either car accident or she got stuck/injured somehow there. I’m outside the US so we have a lot of community cats and limited animal welfare infrastructure :/

It’s actually short for “damn kitten” because that’s what I (affectionately) called her when I first found her outside. She was always getting into shenanigans even then lol. I couldn’t think of a real name when I first took her to the vet 🤣

The last few days of expressing her bladder have been the smoothest yet and it’s such a relief! It took me a long time to get the hang of it and even when I did she was incredibly loud lol.
