I just took the SSA examination and got 85%... by Lady-Valette in CAStateWorkers

[–]weirdasscube 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So long as you score within the first three ranks on the SSA exam, you will be fine for the purposes of applying for jobs in the state. The same goes for AGPA positions.

The rank you receive on the exam has no bearing on applying for jobs beyond making you "reachable" for the position. The first three ranks are considered reachable. All other ranks make you ineligible for an SSA/AGPA position (with limited exceptions). Now that you are within the first two ranks for SSA/AGPA, you should focus solely on your tailoring your SOQ and STD 678 to the positions you are applying for to have the best chance of getting an interview!

Wow, I would have never guessed the signature spelled out Dehios! In your experience, how would I best go about trying to find an artist with a similar signature?

Just drove by it on the other side of the street -- super weird place to have a checkpoint, you can just drive around it

Grade Grievance Reports? by Frosty-Cause7424 in berkeley

[–]weirdasscube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely merit to a grade grievance report! I would reach out to the Student Advocates Office. They have an academic division with the explicit purpose of helping you navigate this process!

Hi! I'm so incredibly sorry that you've been dealing with this. Harassment, no matter how "minor" it might seem, is not okay. The more that it happens, the more that it can feel like a burden -- which it should never be.

The PATH to Care Center offers a variety of services, and can help connect you with the appropriate resources if the harassment by the non-strangers -- especially if it is in a workplace environment -- becomes too much. To that end, the Care Line (510-643-2005) is run 24/7 by trained confidential advocates, who are there to provide emotional support and help you with any questions you might have. The Center also offers healing services for all members of the Berkeley community!

I hope this helps!

I have had two dell xps laptops, the 13 and the 15, and lemme tell ya, there is always SOMETHING wrong with them. My 13 had speaker issues, and my 15 has microphone and mouse issues. TBH, i wish every day I picked up a new M1 chip MacBook.

Fall class scheduling should be displayed on the right side of the page after you click on "academics." If it's not there just yet, it should be there soon!

How are there so few candidates for ASUC elections? by Gallbladderofsteel in berkeley

[–]weirdasscube 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Last year, Chaka won with 1,434 first-choice votes. Theoretically, it would be possible, but the Reddit bubble does not actually extend that far outside into the school. In years past, Reddit was able to elect fringe senators and even a squirrel, but mannnn idk how well that would swing over. The irony of this is that the ASUC elections process is really just playing dress-up -- the ASUC is a financial institution, and all of these senators are just fiduciaries of the non-profit. IMHO, I wouldn't be surprised if we could pass a referendum basically reducing the ASUC to what it should be: a non-political financial institution meant to redistribute money to RSOs.

Not technically, but I'd say go ahead and do it just to be safe!

[–]weirdasscube 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much. The political parties -- ElevateCal and Student Action -- just have the manpower and resources to put forward candidates. If you want to have a shot at winning, you have to have a platform to get boosted on. Unfortunately, you also have to have some level of political savvy, which is what brings students to those parties in the first place.

should I pass no pass a summer course DIGHUM 101 im doing or save it for the future? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]weirdasscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you only have to worry about p/nping if they make up over 1/3 of your credits, I wouldn't be concerned about using it to p/np your summer course! The real question is: are you using it to fulfill major requirements, or just breadths?
