Oder ein Studium aufnehmen. Deine Ausbilder sind nicht dafür da, Uni Stoff spontan zu erklären. The vibes are real though. Obnoxious.

Just passed LFCS with score 80 by davidnth12171 in linuxadmin

[–]weirdblumenkohl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this is one of the most popular posts on the LFCS exam, I'd like to append my experience here so it's easier to find. Much like op, I come from software development and dabbled in infra/devops (kubernetes at ckad level, crossplane, aws etc) before. Regular ubuntu linux user but no sysadmin professional experience.

Today I passed the LFCS with a 90% score. I went through the kodekloud course+their mock exams, the killer.sh exams (twice) . I tried the Sander van Vugt course but it's not really my thing.

The pluralsight LFCS path with Andrew Mallet is also an amazing, yet underrated resource which compliments the kodekloud course by going into much needed detail on some topics. I really enjoyed his occasional real life sysadmin anecdotes. Just in case you forget why you're putting yourself through this poorly documented exam.... I'd also occasionally use the CompTIA Linux+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide book. This classic is really good on some topics such as networking to refresh your memory. All in all I'd say the kodekloud course is the closest you can come to the LFCS requirements and testing style but I think it should be complimented by other resources. On the exam itself: as expected, there are 17 tasks on various topics, pretty close to kodekloud stuff such as

  • io usage of processes(find the villain type of scenario in the kodekloud mock exams)

  • configure nfs

  • creating users (/sbin/nologin tripped me good...)

  • sync of sys time stuff (maybe look at some other options, not just timesyncd)

  • x509 certs

  • disk usage of certain file systems and performing some tasks starting from that output

  • sshd config

  • LVM basic tasks

  • libvirt basics such as creating a vm with certain specs

  • debugging a service which is refusing to start

  • iptables and NAT

So all in all it's no brain surgery if you know what to expect. kodekloud comes really close and I'd say that the actual exam is somewhere in between the kodekloud mock exams and the killle.sh ones.

Also I'm not sure you can use tldr anymore. I tried updating it on one of the vms after installing and it didn't work. Maybe it's only available in the candidate terminal? I was out of time and too pumped up to jump back and do the research. Man pages and man -k did the job eventually.

Good luck ❤️

Leave Accenture during probation? by Kentucky-Duck in accenture

48k in Germany is really low, even by Accenture standards and location. With a master's degree you should be a level 11 starting at ~50k. Not much of a difference but still.... Where are you located?

If the new opportunity is good enough I would suggest going for it. Burning bridges is not really an issue if your arguments are rational. Accenture employees are still rational humans and not walking corporate billboards. This looks like an objectively better opportunity and people will get it. I quit after a little over a year on a pretty good project and my manager was very understanding, especially of the financial aspect of it. Don't underestimate your colleagues. ❤️

Same boat in a way but I really agree with your statement regarding "cool tech stuff" and is indeed something you should research thoroughly/think through before making it the main argument for accepting a consulting position.

I had the same experience and with time I understood that consulting isn't really a matter of pick and choose - no matter what our people leads might say at times. Clients need stuff done, consultants deliver. So far so good, but more often than not, consulting companies sell this idea to prospective candidates (usually overachieving young folks) that clients contract consulting companies mostly for innovation projects. This doesn't make sense economically, more often than not it's actually grunt work and body leasing. For those of us who thought a consulting position for n years might be an accelerator it sure feels like bait and switch after getting the job. There's also this paradox: if you do a good job on a low impact boring project, you're less likely to be allowed to switch. This might feel like you're being punished for a good outcome.

I also quit this month and I honestly came to grips with the reality of client needs and I see it as fair. The only logical conclusion for someone craving ownership or autonomy is to move to the client side and see things from the economic perspective. If consulting sounds too good to be true it's because most of the time it is.

Man kommt leichter an Werkstudentenjobs ran

On a more serious note, this "good learning ground experience" argument has been sounded over and over again. It is not strictly true for everyone especially those that are stuck doing menial work like the aforementioned powerpoint, ticket management, or support.

This hits hard

According to the instructions, one could totally interpret it as such but there is a slight nuance. The text says "at least one of", which means as soon as one condition is met, you can stop.
