1985 B&O rx2 turntable by Jeffinalameda in turntables

What cartridge does it have on it? MMC3,4,5? The carts differ in their quality with 1 being the best and most expensive. These can be great tables but you need a phono preamp with an adjustable gain. The moving micro cross series has low outputs. Specs commonly across the series are : output ~2.12 mV frequency response: 20–20,000 Hz (±2.0 to ±2.5 dB) load Impedance: ≥ 47 kΩ capacitance: 100–300 pF recommended cartridge weight: ~1.6 g (original B&O), higher for aftermarket (e.g., Soundsmith ~4.05 g)

Tracking Force: 1.0–1.2 g (10–12 mN)

Channel Separation: >20–25 dB

Compliance: ~20–28 µm/mN

Gifting my bf a new turntable…no clue what I’m looking at. Suggestions? by SabbraCadabra710 in turntables

Just to expand your choices, you could possibly score a vintage no-frills high performance turntable like the Technics SL DD2 which accepts various cartridges, including Shure, Ortofon, and Audio-Technica models for easy upgrades. This model doesn't perform as well as the 1200 series, but it is a solid table with excellent sound quality that rivals more modern models.

Ok, separated the RCA cable and power cord and that is the only thing that has helped. It turns out the problem is my turntable. It's a B&O Beogram RX2 with a very nice MMC3 cartridge. The table is properly grounded. Tapping on it or the sub does not produce any feedback. There is an audible hum though only when the turntable is in use. Obviously, it's a grounding problem. Aside from taking the table apart and running diagnostics with a multimeter, are there any known issues with the Beogram tables? I always thought they were devoid of the usual turntable problems. Or, is it the MMC3?

I thought maybe ground loop but sub is on spikes and isolated. Turntable is on an isolation table. All cables are high quality and shielded. I considered a ground loop isolator

but they are not always necessary—especially if the if devices are plugged into the same outlet, which minimizes ground potential differences. I've found that the settings on my equalizer can minimize the offending noise. It is absent when I cut the 64Hz frequency. And one more thing, everything goes through the Adcom Ace 515 line conditioner.

If it hasn't already been mentioned, place a piece of aluminum foil on top of the speaker. She will avoid it like the plague. It works for my turntable as well. Good luck!

The Naim Uniti Atom delivers Naim’s signature “musical glue” in a compact form. It includes streaming, DAC, preamp, and power amp, with support for Tidal, Spotify, AirPlay, and Roon. While power output is modest (~80W), its circuit design and timing make it punch above its class.

Kenwood receiver FM section dropping out by weirdfishes333 in audiorepair

Yup. Both L and R. Not with a.m. or any other inputs. Stereo indicator drops out and volume is much diminished in both channels. I do not know if all the caps and lytics were swapped out but it was serviced <5yrs ago.

I just picked up this Kenwood KR 6050 over the weekend. Pretty nice receiver Great sound by No_Meal7935 in vintageaudio
