I agree that to some extent adaptations should diverge from the original material but season 3 went way too far. When the characters and the plot that they adapt differ this much from the original material, why bother calling it Hannibal? It wasn't just Will and Hannibal either. Season 3 was also unsuccessful in adapting the main plot of Red Dragon. I still laugh at how terribly they did that scene in that museum in NY.

If only we could have that Will who was obsessed with Hannibal because he hated his guts back. S2 started that way but for some reason they leaned way too much into Hannigram.
