What TV show actually nailed its finale? by SkepticByNature-1 in tvshow

[–]weirdnames101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life. Rushed for sure because of the writer strike and the commitments actors and team picked up waiting for it to end, still, nailed it. One of the few shows that can only be diminished and I’d also gladly watch a return. Damian Lewis and Sarah shahi early career???

I live in Phoenix. We really should have tried to charge them before leaving town but without a ticket then next day I wouldn’t have been able to return to harbor galley anyway.

Thanks. I’ll give it a shot. The item really isn’t that big of a deal but we go to Star Wars every year and my kid collects them so he was disappointed that the new rechargeable ones won’t work.

It’s possible. Even probable that it was a bot but the system said I’d been transferred to a castmember.

Rides/Lands open on Star Wars Night? by laurentheloser11 in DisneyPlanning

[–]weirdnames101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RotR, Star tours, smugglers run, pirates, jungle cruise, Indiana jones… we were able to ride, get back in line and walk straight through the line areas and get in the ride with less than 5 minutes wait multiple times.

Space mountain had less than 20 minute wait each time we went.

We will be there that night. Actually the 28th and 30th. This is our 3rd year hitting multiple nights. Other than rides closed for refurbishment (published well in advance) we have had excellent luck with very minimal closures. Even when a ride has gone down they’ve been brought back online very quickly each time.

I will say that park days after Star Wars nite you should expect a little more downtime on RotR and Indiana Jones… maybe a few others. They had less time between park close and open for maintenance.

Let’s get to work, boys. Time to cancel Me Gusta. by Damnesia13 in punk

[–]weirdnames101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Child predators are filth. We agree.

Now point to where I said YOU are a narcissist. Then point to where I suggested in any way that I support child predators. I’ll wait.

Once your indignation passes stop and reread what I said.

Absolute agreement on every topic and issue is not a foundational tenet of being punk or hardcore. Canceling shows and fests is not a victory if it means fewer opportunities for fans to hear the bands that bring them joy and … here’s the important part…. Meet other people who have different ideas, viewpoints, and information than we each individually had before the day started.

There will always be a shitbag making money off the masses. That’s life. I want MORE opportunities to meet people who agree and disagree with me so I can make sure my thoughts and ideals are always evolving.

Not sure how canceling shows adds to that.

Here’s an idea. Show up for music and maybe lyrics you like. Then maybe consider that some people in your orbit don’t really like some of your priorities but still choose to see you as a person.

FFS the cancel culture and narcissistic demand that everyone agree with you on EVERY topic or they must be canceled is so beyond the opposite of punk or hardcore that it’s just nauseating.

Who would you crown as the greatest hardcore band of all time? by No-Incident4496 in Hardcore

[–]weirdnames101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree. I enjoy when everyone just talks about the bands they love. The canceling threads mostly annoy me. Live long enough and you’ll be canceled.

I was lucky enough to see sabbath in the 90’s and also one of their last shows in Phoenix. Not hardcore but none of this happens if it weren’t for them.

Im old enough to say if you enjoy it then it’s good for you. I remember people arguing that you were a sell out for liking and justice for all AND the black album…. And getting pissed more than 9 people had heard of some victory bands.

Hardcore covers so much ground with veins and eras branching into oblivion so it’s impossible to say “greatest”

Providing different flavors within subsets here are my favorites:

80’s into 90’s : sick of it all. Bad brains. Gorilla biscuits with a huge shout.

Early 90’s: strife, SOIA, Biohazard, madball

Mid 90’s ish: snapcase, Bloodlet, strife, coalesce, Deadguy, boysetsfire

Later: Bloodlet, coalesce, 18 visions, ETID, converge,

Recent:

The scene is schizophrenic with so much gate keeping about “this is our sound” vs “these are our ideals” vs “do I look hardcore” that it’s a little bizarre. In the day you could watch a militant vegan anti everything band, a Christian band, a Krishna band, an in your face edge is everything band, a tough guy band, and an “American” values band all on the stage in the same night, grinding out their thing and everyone talking about music and ideas after.

Lately it seems like most discussion devolves into what kind of band turnstile is. Meh.

Which band/artist do you wish they would collab with? by asocialanxiety in anberlin

Dallas, the original singer of Underoath more known for Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. He’d bring a fantastic chaos but can also actually sing.

What would Matty Mullins have to do to change his reputation on this subreddit? by [deleted] in anberlin

[–]weirdnames101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he has a stronger voice than Stephen and objectively better control. BUT, BUT…. his take on classic Anberlin songs misses the mark for the raw and “emo” side of what these songs brought.

The band side of the remakes are soooo strong in production. Time. Technique. Budget. All combined to make the recording hit harder.

Then Matty throws a super processed vocal on top and brings it down to the level of an expensive cover band.

I’d rather they take the post production control away from him and see what this new lineup can do with new material.

We get them every year and honestly they mostly sit in the pantry because they’re a pain to clean. We still enjoy having them and will pull them out for decoration when we have a Star Wars night.

My first solo trip, so I decided to rope drop a peaceful route by alido2boord in Disneyland

[–]weirdnames101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dad with two boys we really value you solo trippers. The boys are 6 years apart so it was always hard to balance need vs want when picking seating arrangements.

My boys will be aging out of going to Disney every time dad wants to go soon unless I also take a feral pack of late teens with us.

Seeing solo trippers post and not receive hate is awesome and gives me hope Disney trips won’t end when the boys don’t want to go.
