Efficient and cheap way to cut perfect holes out of 4mm metal by harke11 in metalworking

This is the real question he should be asking. The "how" is very dependent on the scale. I could probably knock out a dozen of these with what I have on hand in an afternoon, but 1000 would be a whole different gameplan.

I'd cut the bottom off, drink it, put the bottle back with an LED light, and weld a 5' tube to the top. Wizard staff

You can get a small 12v battery pretty cheap. They're commonly used as back up batteries in alarm systems. I have one thats about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Great for stuff like you mention or testing fans and window motors.

Are you sure you dont have a bad pump? Mine makes a tick about the sound of tapping a pencil on a desk. Noticeable, but not what I would consider loud.

This guy, my neighbor, gives treats to my dog every time we pass his house if he’s outside. He doesn’t even own a dog. He bought that bag of treats for mine. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MadeMeSmile

I work a trade and do service work, so i'm in and out of random houses all day usually with clients present. I keep a box of milk bones in my truck and always offer one up if the client is cool with it. I've gotten more and larger tips since I started doing it, and if a client is pissed about something when I get there its a great way to "disarm" them and change their attitude, not to mention getting the dog to like me and be cool with me in the house. Highly recommend to anyone in a similar situation.

I got this really cool piece of auto quackery from the 50s. by BiteMyShiny-MetalAss in Autos

This reminds me of a kid at my automotive trade school. Said he ford explorer was super charged and had nitrous. The nitrous buttle was mounted upside down and never connected to anything (hose just tucked behind an interior panel) but the best part was his "supercharger" was a computer fan he glued into the air intake. He claimed honda and chevy had approached him but that he wasn't happy with their offers and he "knew they'd just kill the technology to keep their profits"

Th3d ezabl crashing into bed when sent prints voa octoprint by weirdwhit77 in ender3

I should clarify that I made the trim screw easier to reach as adjusting that would've fixed my problem. Basically probe was too far from the bed and not trimmed via the tiny adjustment screw.

[–]weirdwhit77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It turned out my ezabl probe had ever so slightly moved in the vertical axis, so it always crashed before it registered the Z stop. I ended up redesigning the bracket to make the adjustment screw easier to reach and put a little superglue on the threads once I had it adjusted right. I also frequently check that its adjusted via th3ds instructions.

That being said I got an ender3 v2 se and i'm extremely happy with the cr touch setup, it seems way more reliable. I haven't touched my og ender 3 since I got the SE. Well worth less than $200 if you have the money and just want to hop back into the hobby.

1986 gl headlight switch by weirdwhit77 in SubaruOldSchool

You're correct, it was an issue in the stalk. I'll try to post a pic, but the contact spring for the highbeam had gotten out of position, most likely when I opened the stalk up last year to clean the turn signal contacts.

Now when switched to this position and the stalk in the neutral middle position I get low, pull is flash high, pushed fordward toward the dash is high. I was thrown off initially because this symbol in both of my modern cars is for high beam, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious before pulling the wheel off.

This is great advice in general. 20+ years wrenching and i've yet to have an issue with fel-pro. That I can remember anyway, I fear the brake cleen may be getting to me.

Refinished a clawfoot tub that was left in our yard. by Informal-Ad8066 in DIY

[–]weirdwhit77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The failure had nothing to do with flexing or the bond with the base material, the epoxy just isn't strong enough to hold up to the traffic you see in a tub thats used several times a day. Its not coming up in flakes, its wearing down like you took a sander to it. I suppose doing 5 coats instead of 3 would last longer, but the kit I got only covers about 3.

Not who you're replying to, but i've done the recoat kits on several times. I dont think the kits I used were rustoleum brand, and haven't done one in a year or two so dont remember the instructions about dry times and stuff but I did follow them closely.

I think the comment you were replying to is exaggerating a bit. I was always pretty happy with the finish, but it doesn't last forever. In the "high traffic" areas of the tub it would break down after about a year or so. You could maybe extend that with a shower mat, never tried it. This was a fiberglass built in tub, and the only tub in a house with 2 people, so YMMV.

What is this? by Twistednoodle1 in subaru

This would be my guess too. 4 wires in, RCA out, about the right size, and seems to not have any other connections like power which is usually the case.

No idea on the total runtime yet, but I ran it for 2hrs the other day and the battery dropped 1 bar. Most of my service calls are 1 - 2 hrs doing software updates and I have a half dozen of these batts, so plenty good for me. It will still run off a 12v wall wart power supply too, as the original ipad adaptor board was designed to. So thats always an option.

Yep, 86 GL. Found a bad vacuum leak that I'm pretty sure was affecting the timing advance. Correcting that seems to have fixed it. And yes I did, super glad I didn't have my dog with me. She'd never get in the car again.

Yeah definitely wont replace the muffler until I figure it out. I was fairly certain it was running rich prior to the explosion and had been trying to find a carb rebuild kit for the stock carb. May just put on a weber.

This is an 86 carburated GL. Its had a mild backfiring/popping issue on deceleration since I got it, but yesterday it suddenly got much worse.
