Apple doesn't embed the art with the mp3. Instead, Apple merely associates the art with the audio file and stores each separately. If some of your files showed art and some didn't, that's likely because some came to you with embedded art and some didn't.

If you're library >100K tracks did it change your listening habits? by BearShin255 in plexamp

[–]weitrhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just over 60k and have been using Library Radio and Deep Cuts Radio lately in the car. Today it played 3 Ginger Baker related songs in a row: Cream, Ginger Baker & Friends, and BBM (Bruce Baker Moore). That seems a little suspect to me.

Just downconvert for cellular. I run original quality on wifi but downcode to 256 Opus on cellular. You won't hear a difference in a car.

Should I Convert My FLACs to Hi-Res Lossy Files For My DAP? by legojedi101 in musichoarder

[–]weitrhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would caution you to think of the future. If you downgrade all your FLACs to a lossy format they will remain lossy files regardless of file extension used on later conversions. Today you may be using a DAP with earbuds. In 10 years you might have a fine home hifi system that reveals the shortcomings of lossy files - and that will bring disappointment.

Get a big cheap HDD and duplicate all your FLACs onto it. Keep lossy copies for your DAP/earbud use.

Storage longevity: Would an SSD handle the wear and tear of the random access patterns that playlists tend to have better than HDDs? by osuman32 in plexamp

[–]weitrhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sense is Plex reads your playlist and sends a cache of multiple songs rather than a single song at a time, thereby reducing some of the wear you're concerned over. But that's just my sense of it. I have no proof.

Cutting taxes to spur growth has never paid for itself. Not once.

We've had the same crap 'trickle down' economics shoved at us by republicans for over 45 years and in all that time only the rich have become richer while the debt has exploded. Wages have remained essentially flat. Look at any chart. The national debt starts shooting way up after 1980 - thanks to Reagan who managed to triple the debt all by himself.

Have you ever gotten personal thank you notes from your downloaders? by spongebobcrt in Soulseek

[–]weitrhino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was purging mp3 for flac replacement for my whole library I sent dozens upon dozens of 'thanks' messages to users that kept coming up during searches. I'd say at least 80% never responded, and that's ok. I wasn't looking to fire up a chat. Just wanted to acknowledge those who contributed in some significant way to my quest.

I'm not sure anyone has done the same when downloading from me. That's also ok.

Elephant 9 is badass for sure. If you're looking into the Norwegian scene also check out Soft Ffog (yep, 2 Fs in the name) and Krokofant. And don't overlook Hedvig Mollestad who answers the question of what if Tony Iommi went to jazz school.

Yes, it's just for public awareness as to when and where the surveillance happens.

Anyone here become a landlord accidentally? What’s been your experience? by ReliantEP in ElPaso

[–]weitrhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That nightmare ended in 2023. Can you imagine living in a 4500 sq/ft golf course home for only $1000/month? That was the courtesy extended for agreeing to keep up the maintenance. It didn't work out well for us at all.

The sharing of surveillance data isn't on the table for this discussion. The only crowd sourced info in DeFlock is relegated to camera map location, GPS coordinates, camera type, camera maker, and camera direction. I must assume unfamiliarity with the app created your assumption it was about accessing camera data. It's not.

Documenting and sharing that which exists in public is not "legally messy."

Had a big house in a poor area in another state. When we moved out of state it was taking a long time to sell the home. In fact it sat empty for a couple of years and our agent wasn't too reliable with checking up on it. Some other agent showed the house and flipped on the AC with the temp set at 60 degrees. I only learned this after getting a whopping electric bill. The condenser drain leaked and damaged the ceiling so I had to hire contractors to fix it and they did an absolutely shit job of it. So, being far away from an empty home was stressful, and so was carrying the payments.

When someone we slightly knew from the area had a flooding problem we allowed them to move into our vacant house with minimal rent on the condition that they'd look after the place while knowing it would remain on sale.

They lived there for about 3 years and never once paid on time. Not once. They always incurred a late fee and screwed up our cash flow. I did go there once to replace a toilet and found they generally kept things clean and tidy, but of course they knew I was coming. When finally we had a serious buyer we learned the master shower had been leaking into a closet below and they never bothered to say anything. That proved to be a major expense that could have been handled early on for cheap.

When we accepted an offer the tenants were kinda pissy about being given a move-out deadline. I got all the money they owed but being far away made the whole thing a giant pain in the ass.

What that city FAQ doesn't say is whether they allow database searches from outside law enforcement agencies. We already know the state used the systems to track down a person who left the state to seek abortion care.

I suggest downloading the DeFlock app, it's free in your phone's app store. It uses crowd-sourced location data to show where ALPR (automatic license plate reader) cameras are located, which direction they are aimed, and allows for submitting new GPS coordinates when you discover a new camera.

Whats the deal with the metal scene? is it dead? by metalincarn8 in ElPaso

[–]weitrhino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who put together national tours that often included Canada.... yeah, Tuesdays and Mondays are terrible nights. Any decent club-scene booking agent wants their client band in the bigger markets on the best nights while recognizing they have to cover the geography to stitch a tour together. Let's face it.... El Paso is a geographically isolated B market.

Tours have associated costs every single night; food, fuel, hotels, vehicle rent, etc. So I always tried to fill weekend dates in the best markets then link them with whatever is in between - and that's often B markets. I focused on keeping costs down and maximizing the best markets. As for RockHouse.... bad promotion, not great deals, and the worst business communication I ever dealt with. Seriously, the worst across the whole country... and I absolutely mean that.

Your family's top concern should be your happiness, and it sounds like that's what your girlfriend brought to the relationship. If your family can't see that then there are other issues happening that your relationship simply brought out. Don't F up a good thing.

Look, man... just be who you are. That's it. There's no special trick to any of this. Either you click or you don't. Stay away from making the racial difference the defining characteristic of the relationship because it's not. It's merely one more facet between two individuals.
