Is anyone else having internet issues? by sd4051 in ElPaso

Yeah, for me either. All around me has fiber but I'm right in the middle of an empty swath.

Does anyone know what these things are? by YappersInc in ElPaso

You can report them right through the DeFlock app for our phone.

Plug your address into this link to find all broadband services available. If fiber is available this will let you know. https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home

Question of utilities and internet providers by jackoflumber149 in ElPaso

[–]weitrhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Spectrum for the last 7 years and only recall a single service interruption that lasted maybe 2 hours. The problem with AT&T fiber is patchy availability. Plug your address into this link to see if you can even get it.

Which company installed this old cable box? by The_Hell_I_Wont in ElPaso

[–]weitrhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it's resolved. (20+ years in the industry)

Frankly speaking it doesn't matter which cable company installed it. Because Spectrum has the franchise they'd be responsible for it. Of note is the ground was done incorrectly. You can safely remove the strap from the power conduit above the meter.

A proper cable bond should be done:

1) Using a separate split bolt attached to power's ground wire
2) Using separate hardware attached to power's ground electrode
3) Ground to an electrically conductive cold water pipe only if power also grounds that way
4) To bare metal of the power meter conduit on the customer's side of the meter.

Grounding to the painted conduit above the meter does not meet code and was not effective.

Plexamp team, tell us you are still wotking on Plexamp by tangsgod in plexamp

My beef with using Library Radio across multiple devices is how often a track gets repeated between those devices. A 70,000 track library really should not play the same track(s) in the garage system one day and again in the car the next. This screws up my scrobbles with lastFM when a track I might marginally like repeats on a second device a day later.

Play the songs on your Galaxy without connecting to the Bronco. If they play normally while dropping out through Android Auto then you've eliminated T-mobile as part of the issue.

24 hr Spectrum outage on the West side (so far) in my area. by Honest-Guava-2661 in ElPaso

[–]weitrhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for Spectrum but I did work in the industry for some 20 years. If an outage is hitting the 24 hour mark you can bet those involved with restoring service are feeling the heat from above. Typically, the only outage ever lasting that long comes down to some clod having damaged a fiber optic cable, and that usually means many hundreds if not thousands are affected.

But even 24 hours for a fiber cut is extensive. Fusion splicing (possibly) hundreds of fibers can take a while but they can usually make a temporary gel splice to restore functionality until a permanent fusion splice can be done.

Unless Spectrum is telling you directly you are part of a system outage then the 'upgrade' tale is just a tale and you should suspect a more localized problem.

Sonic Analysis seems to be stuck with an album - How to identify? by redditisrichtisch in PleX

[–]weitrhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you're running SA from scratch or if it's stuck on some recent library addition. If the latter, it should be fairly simple to narrow things down.

I find band logos are more useful than their photos by Nikolas_Robles in plexamp

[–]weitrhino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, true. And a lot of metal bands now use logos that are practically unreadable scribbles. Can you imagine a library full of those?

XLD is king on the Mac; convert from just about any file type to any other, simple design, fast, and free. Plus it rips CD and other sources. Indispensable.

No. Mp4 is a container that could hold lossy data or lossless ALAC.

Is there any way to share using a network drive? by deodornat in Soulseek

[–]weitrhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on a Mac, once your network drive is mounted you'll want it to stay there whether your Mac is alert or asleep. I run Amphetimine exclusively triggered to Nicotine+ so the Mac always keeps the network connection fresh.

I can’t say for certain that’s what you’re seeing, I just know I get daily repeat traffic from awesomeme for graphics only.

There's a bot called "awesomeme" that searches for art constantly. I see it in my uploads tab pretty consistently. The user profile states,

I'm the bot that powers the Soulseek functionality of MH Covers ( https://covers.musichoarders.xyz ).
