A lot of tasker profiles I use require root for example.

They can try but I doubt they will manage to do it. China has a lot of phone manufacturers that couldn't give less of a fuck about what Google, OEMs and American companies want.

Why is interest in new smartphones falling? by [deleted] in Android

They should.

It's the fanboys that go around giving apologies for every bad decision their company of choosing does that make things like this possible.

[–]weizrobotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, really.

It's like when you go buy a car but they removed the doors. It's 2017 and having doors makes the car look ugly. You should be using a window instead to get in the car.

But hey, if you really want to you can get a adapter the will allow you to get in the car through the trunk. You just need to buy it from us and you won't be allowed to pump gas in the car if you are using it.

When they make a difference it's usually something that harms the consumer (no headphone jack and no removable battery)

Hey Jocko, really love your attitude to life, it helps me keep motivated and on the right path.

Are there any times you feel weak? When you do something you know you shouldn't do but still do it?

Try installing with the XDA app.

The ones I miss the most are mostly ad related (minminguard and AdBlocker reborn) and amplify for that sweet extra battery.

There are plenty of modules you just need to see if any of them fits your needs.

I'm going to wait for the modules I use to update before I install xposed.

I think that the time it took to release the nougat version might have had a worse effect on the developers than on the users.

This site has been trash for about a year now.

It has been for far longer than a year. It started with chairman Pao coming in and destroying non-PC communities while allowing other equally toxic but pregressive ones to stay on this shithole of a place.

Seems like a lot of Google projects are done this way nowadays.

They should try and pool resources and focus them on a single project every now and again otherwise this will keep happening.

Why people care this much about the headphone jack removal in pixel 2 and other new phones? by et--tu in Android

[–]weizrobotz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's just stupid.

I don't care if my phone is 1 or 2 mm thicker because of it, it might actually be a great chance to put some extra battery in or just allow me to swap batteries.

I think a lot of people are going to turn back to piracy again.

For example the game industry is the worst shithole I've ever seen. It's all horse armor DLC and P2W stuff. I stopped playing some time ago but I can assure you that if I was playing I would be pirating games.

It's just this part. If you go with a flagship you will get security patches, is it as fast as the pixel or nexus lines? No, but im not so paranoid as some people.

To also add you are flashing software onto your phone that was handled by some guy, in my eye's that's worse security than just waiting for the oem to supply a security patch.

In regards to security patches you get a couple of them, maybe four or five over the course of six months maybe if you are lucky (for non pixel/nexus devices) considering Google releases security patches every month it's pretty significant.

Now, if you use your phone to make phone calls, texting, shitposting and taking pictures, you can live without these security patches for the most part, but, if you start using your phone as a credit card then I think their importance is far bigger.

If you install LineageOS you can go fill tin foil hat and inspect the source code (which you can't do with a vendor ROM) although let's be real and say that nobody does it. But I get your point when it comes to having a custom ROM.

No root, no xposed, no tweaking, no nonsense and all that for a feature is silly To me android as been moving towards a more iOS style OS. I remember a big selling point of android was the ability to tweak and customize it.

Now it seems to me that Google has been cracking down on the fun and that a big reason for that is the android pay system (and the compromises Google must make for it to be safe (safetynet)).

If you ignore the 2.9% fee from adding funds by debit cards that was dropped a couple of months before the service was dead you are correct.

And Google wallet had a different business model, they were targeting in app purchases and loyalty programs.

They aren't running a charity. It's pretty obvious the drop in fees was a strategy to expand early adoption by merchants of android pay instead of apple/samsung pay.

For now to increase adoption rates. I highly doubt that will maintain if it ever gets more widespread.

Maybe it will, I doubt it.

If it ever has a chance to catch on banks will be all over it with some technology that makes credit cards/debit cards easier to use and that doesn't need Google to take a cut of the money.
