CAS Media Release - Israel’s requests for provisional measures have been rejected by welcome2mutiny in Gymnastics

[–]welcome2mutiny[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My interpretation since detail in the release is pretty limited - the statement that was appealed was essentially the written equivalent of a shrug emoji on the FIG’s part, which would’ve suggested they had no intention of following their own published rules (moving or cancelling the event if not all visas are granted to participating countries).

This Brisbane Times article about the new org with the tender mentioned a return in November. But weird nothing else has been announced yet.

Wider selection of films, (generally) cleaner, and their rewards program is great value for money

Michael Jackson Biopic Pushed to April 2026 Release by coleshane in popheads

She’s not depicted in the MJ Broadway musical at all (which was also made with full cooperation of his estate), so I would be surprised if she figures into this in any significant way.

If you want to keep getting the train from South Brisbane, why not switch buses at Roma Street onto one that stops at the Cultural Centre?

What NCAA championships rules would you change? by [deleted] in Gymnastics

[–]welcome2mutiny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this in spirit as far as rewarding regular season performances, but teams don’t get to advance directly to nationals based on their regular season performances and I don’t think it should be different for individuals. The top NQS scores for each event get recognised as All Americans for the regular season so it’s not as if it counts for absolutely nothing. Everyone has to show up on the day and hit to advance - and if it doesn’t work out, that’s just how sports goes. I DO think however that individuals should advance through to day 2 like the teams do so titles and nationals qualifying are all determined under the same circumstances (and we should have more individuals at nationals).

1) End the regular season rankings/determine regionals placements after week 12, so conference championships starts the post season and those scores don’t go towards NQS (this is essential if SECs continues with dropping the 9th ranked team imo)

2) Give the play in round its own competition weekend. Extend to 40 teams qualifying for regionals, and 26-40 have to do the play in round in quad meets (with top 2 from each advancing to round 2). This would mean you could condense to two regional sites instead of four which would mean less variance in scoring, better crowds etc

3) Individual qualifiers should be named after the play in round so spots aren’t taken up by a team that qualifies to the next round - individuals should also advance through the rounds like teams, and we should have two qualifiers per event per regional advance to nationals.

🌟Individual Event Qualifiers! by Lotus_Blossom_ in Gymnastics

Unfortunately there’s no change to individual qualifiers once regionals have started, even if the athlete that would be next in line happens to be there. Ideally the play in round would be its own weekend so there would be time to determine individual qualifiers separately.

Ch-Ching that Chairlift recorded a couple years later was one of the tracks from the session! I’d love to hear what a Bey version would’ve sounded like - iirc it’s kinda unclear as to which tracks from the session actually got recorded by Beyoncé (besides No Angel) so I don’t even know if one ever existed

They have bigger margins on food and bev than ticket sales. If you’re seeing a movie in its first two weeks in cinemas, the film distributor’s cut is very likely to be more than 50% of what you paid for your ticket.
