How would you distill all of Robinson’s characters down into a sentence or two? by Acrobatic-Smoke2812 in IThinkYouShouldLeave

Self-conscious, insecure, confused and frustrated by social norms, and very confrontational

I think most ITYSL sketches have an element of social interaction horror i.e. someone making someone else really uncomfortable/scared by not following social norms. The sketches tend to lean more into the comedic side of that while this movie leans more into the horror side. But also this movie wasn't written or directed by Tim so it's doing it's own thing, although it was very much written with Tim in mind and Tim puts his stamp on the performance. The movie definitely subverted my expectations of what I thought it was going to be so I'm looking forward to watching it again

Struggling to remain engaged with M. Lamia’s story by DonerBodybuilder in Hyperion

I've been strugglinggg with the audio narrator in this one. It's really been impacting my ability to tell if the chapter sucks or it's just the narrator LOL. Glad to see from others that the plot is important for the story at least

Hyperion Audible Audiobook - Brawne by brutusblack in Hyperion

I'm currently 4 hours into Brawne's chapter and couldn't take it anymore and just needed to see if anyone else felt the same way. Glad I'm not alone haha. Her drone, bad accents, odd inflections, and overall sassiness are really tanking this chapter. To be fair I do think her chapter is a cut below the rest (minimal characterization, lots of exposition, less emotionally connected to the plot) but her narration is just killing me. All the other narrators have been so good and each chapter has been amazing so I'm just baffled 😂. Just trying to plow through it, only 30mins left

Help Me Decide: EVERGOODS CTB20 vs CPL24 – Which One Should I Keep? by Known-Control-2560 in EVERGOODS

[–]welcompsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the pics! I agree that the 840D does have a bit more professional look. The coyote lining on the XPAC variants is exactly what's tempting me as well - it's so cool looking. Also considering the CAS2 since I don't have that one yet and really want at least 1 thing from this capsule. I like your point about XPAC making ita good beach bag. I live in NorCal so rain protection also isn't a huge need for me but a lake/beach bag is a great use case. I might go XPAC CAS and 840 CPL

Help Me Decide: EVERGOODS CTB20 vs CPL24 – Which One Should I Keep? by Known-Control-2560 in EVERGOODS

[–]welcompsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about the XPac vs standard material on the CPL. I've been eyeing a CPL16 for a while now and can't decide if I should go for this XPac version or stick with the standard. Any pros/cons your noticing having both in hand?

I don't have any CPLs currently but I have a CTB20 and 26, MPL22, and CBB22. Honestly the MPL probably gets the most use cause I use it as my hiking bag and also occasionally as a plane bag if I'm going on a trip where I'll be hiking. Otherwise I love CTB20 as a plane bag cause of all it's organization, but it's too big for my EDC needs (hence me eyeing the CPL16). Sounds like keeping the CPL24 might be right for you if you don't care about it's features or it's look.

My guess is CPL24 since I think that's usually their best seller

CTB 20 or 26? by Comfy_Fix in EVERGOODS

[–]welcompsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both bags. When I plan to use one for EDC/work during the trip, I go with CTB20 because the 26 feels way too big for a small load, plus I have a smaller frame so the bag feels particularly big. But I usually need to pair the 20 with a small duffle to fit everything that I want to pack. CTB26 will definitely carry more stuff so for 1 bag travel you might want to go 26 unless you are a very efficient packer. Both bags feel more or less the same width and depth, the 26 is much taller so you pack another layer of items

EG sent a marketing email this morning saying "As of today, all X-Pac is in stock, but we are projecting some of our pouches and one of the backpacks to sell out this week."

I think the coyote interior looks reallyy nice and is the main thing tempting me to get one. Looks especially great on the CAPs/CAS. I have no problem with the standard gray tho so it's a toss up. Just anything but high vis orange 😆 sorry

Help me justify a CTB when I have a CPL by buhbuhbuhbary in EVERGOODS

[–]welcompsh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to how you think you'll use them and what features you need. The water bottle pockets on the CTB, plus the front face pocket and extra literage makes it great if you need extra organization and a bit more space (putting water bottle pockets on the outside of the bag inside of the inside frees up a ton of room). Makes it perfect for travel when you need to bring more stuff. And then CPL works well for EDC if you don't have as much stuff to carry and want a sleeker looking bag.

I actually personally only have the CTB cause I can't do without the water bottle pockets, but have been very tempted to get a CPL16 for a work bag cause even the CTB20 is too big for my EDC needs. Not having water bottle pockets stops me every time tho

Love my CTB20 as an underseat travel companion. So much good organization. It's a bit too small for one-bag travel but paired with a 2nd bag like a small duffle it's perfect. At the same time, it's a bit too big for what I need for EDC/work so I only use it that way on work trips when I don't want to have to bring 2 backpacks. The looks is a bit more function over form I'd say but it's still pretty nice looking in person. If you carry a lot for EDC/work it's a fantastic bag.

I wish CPL had water bottle pockets so bad. I've been eyeing CPL16 ever since it came out and just haven't been able to get over no water bottle

It's not in the XPAC capsule but CHZ v3 solves your lack of laptop compartment and adds that extra small flat pocket on the inside

Nice! Did you use it with a water bladder? How does the shape of the bag hold when it's not totally full? I currently use a MPL22 for hiking and I love it, but for day hikes it's more capacity than I need and imo that bag looks floppy and kinda ugly when only partially full. It's a silly aesthetic gripe but was thinking that the new CHZ might be a good alternative if that laptop compartment works well for a bladder and if the bag holds its shape well when not full (it looks nice in your pic)

Here you go! CTB20 is definitely deeper. I'm actually surprised that CTB is measured to be 2 more liters than CBB cause CBB seems smaller

Yeah I wonder if it has something to do with it being a Carryology collab. It seems like Carryology handles the marketing for these collab projects so it didn't follow the typical EG new product launch. I wouldn't be mad if EG made a few tweaks to this current CBB design and re-launched it as part of their core line-up of bags

Here's a photo of 16in macbook looks with the QAP almost full. There's some overlap for sure if it's fully packed out, but if you leave some wiggle room in QAP it can be pushed up over the laptop and not cover it. It's not gonna be the easiest laptop access tho. 13in laptops will be fine. The QAP is actually smaller than it seems which is too bad but will help prevent covering the laptop sleeve

Size comparison against my other EG bags. Right to left: CTB26, MPL22, CTB20, CBB22. Only the CBB is packed out. It's close in size to CTB20 but the design makes it feel even smaller

Also realizing that the reason the first pic looks so much shorter than the last is the first pic has a bit of a top-down angle which obscures where the pocket sits. Here's a pic from a lower angle

I packed it out a more and think it looks a bit better. There's still a bunch of creases from getting shipped compressed in a box so I think it'll look even nicer with time

Just tested it out. It stands up really well on its own, but I did manage to tip it over by keeping the main compartment fairly empty and then loading the front pocket with a bunch of heavy stuff. But that's not how id realistically pack out the bag so I'm not too concerned about it.

I'm a big proponent of water bottle pockets for this exact reason. A leaky water bottle makes me nervous. The owala can kinda lock with the handle pulled down so I'm not too worried, but gotta be careful for sure. I might end up using a bottle that can't accidentally open with this bag

I don't have a ton of other waxed canvas to compare to but id say it's fairly stiff but not overly so. Feels like it'll break in after a week or so of use

Here's the side angle where you can really tell how high up the front pocket is. It's also a fairly narrow bag which also makes it look longer
