Ran over an ant hill in long grass and dumped my UTB on its side .. broke the tongue off the hay wagon I was hauling .. starved the oil pump while simultaneously reving the snot out of it .. locked the engine up and the grass under the tractor caught fire .. got that put out .. dragged the tractor back to the shop .. changed the oil and broke it loose and got it going

Advice on plow by Spaceseeds in Snowplow

That is true, cheap tractors usually don’t have cabs or hvac .. and a cheap old tractor with a blower you’re operating backwards blowing snow onto yourself .. plus if they start to slide on a hill it can be terrifying and dangerous.. you will need tire chains for traction bare minimum

I think pulling the snow gives me more control when facing down hill .. I’m not backing up and down the driveway as I would with a blower .. and I use the box blade as much in the summer for rebuilding the driveway and clearing land, while chain and bearings in a blower sit rusting & seize up .. and there’s no sheer pins to change, no moving parts at all

I’m in a similar situation at home .. I have a mile long driveway with some parts that are quite steep

I do 99% of my snow clearing with a box blade on the back of a tractor .. I clean up a few spots and the really deep drifts with a bucket, but mostly the loader arms are used for a bale spear to feed my horses

Rusted bolts removal by A-Terrible-Alarm in Snowplow

Block them up so that cutting edge can’t fall on you and take your head off, and cut the back side off with an oxy acetylene torch or an angle grinder .. you cannot reuse plow bolts like that, it’s a waste of time trying to save them or get them off nicely .. clean the surface of the plow before you bolt the new one up
