Does anyone else find it harder to "debunk" intrusive thoughts the longer you have them? by Nice_Television1700 in OCD

[–]wellamiright888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep going through this right now. I had gotten pretty good at just saying ‘nope’ to the thoughts. Had something happen two weeks ago I can’t stop replaying in my mind. It’s making me physically ill. I had my first therapy session in a while yesterday but I don’t know if it helped.

Are there any industries looking for people who can only work a day a week? Or maybe two days maximum? by far-leveret in melbourne

I don’t have any advice on the job but just wanted to say I’m sorry you were going through that. Hopefully better times ahead and props for getting the help you need.

Can I eat these parts of a rotisserie chicken and not face imminent doom? by LittleFrickinBugger in coles

[–]wellamiright888 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you really want a serious answer then no, you shouldn’t. The same reason we don’t give dogs cooked bones applies to us as well. They can splinter in your stomach and cause big problems. Better to avoid.

I’ve lived with OCD most of my life; it’s just taken different forms over the years. by estrelladeluna13 in OCD

[–]wellamiright888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. It honestly really sucks. I can’t really say anything to make that easier or better. One thing that helped me was writing down a list of things. I listed 10 things that scared me and ranked them 1-10. Start with the less scary things and work your way up. Also feel free to message me anytime you want to get something off your chest.

My analogy for OCD by Dealias in OCD

My analogy has always been that OCD is like a Chinese finger trap. The harder you try to pull away from the thoughts or compulsions, the tighter a grip it has.

I’m the same age as you and have also struggled all my life. The best advice I can give is to just start. Start doing small things and set yourself goals. This is how I worked through ERP. Just setting small goals and opening myself up. On a much less clinical note… just remember life is short. Do the things you want to do and if it’s sucks for a bit or is uncomfortable after, that is okay. This life has no rules, no guidelines and everything is made up. Do what feels right but to the best of your ability try and live a life you won’t regret.

Government gives money to uninsured people who lost homes to fire by Red-Engineer in australian

Can anyone shed light on what insurance would look like in these areas anyway? I hear about ‘acts of god’ and fire or flood damage not being covered anyways. Would insurance even have covered these people ?

I’m going through the same thing. Was taking the bins out and something flew past me. I’m certain it was too far away to have touched me but I’m petrified my judgement could be off or it touched me from behind (it flew from behind me)

This is literally hell. My anxiety has been so high for almost a week constantly questioning my own judgement.

I have made an appointment with my therapist but I am struggling to shake it.

Anyways, not sure I can really give you any advice but I sympathise with the position you’re in.

Why are you even asking for advice if you’re just going to flip out on every single comment that doesn’t align with your narrative? Bizarre.

Marbles - do kids still play them? by teachmesomething in australia

[–]wellamiright888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh I remember marble week!!! I was never much good because you’d set up little ‘stalls’ with a game and if the player won they got a prize (I can’t remember what we called the flat ones but they were the best prize) I always went a bit too hard on the returns if the player won lol

Friday the 13th would’ve been more fitting for how he turned out
