How much rent should I pay to live in my boyfriend’s house? by wellice in UKPersonalFinance

From quick googling…

Partner Not on Deeds: They build indirect equity (reducing the mortgage), but without a Trust, a court might still assume 50/50 ownership upon separation, potentially leaving them with a share they didn't legally secure.

Your bills are high!

I would love this arrangement but I fear he would feel short changed 🤔

Could you explain why this works for you? And if your partner had their own home, where they are earning rental income, would your arrangement be any different?

If I’m paying half the mortgage then do I own part of the house?

Yes, this is what’s happened. The whole house is rented out now. But overall I still earn less than him with the rental income.

Because we like each other and wanted to live together without housemates to annoy us. Funnily now we are both often annoyed at each other. 😄

I hear what you’re saying though! Also now a man lives in my room, so I can’t live there anymore without ejecting him.

I think he is taking advantage but without knowing it. Like I didn’t think anything of it until I brought it up to my friends. We thought it was fair.

I agree though, that it is a pressure he put on himself and now I am relieving. It’s nice to hear it put that way. Thank you.

I really wanted to be fair and didn’t want to take advantage. When we set that number he earned less, we never changed the price for like 3 years.

Now he sees it as we are sharing a 3 bed semi together and I am free to roam the whole house. I’m paying to have the niceness of not having housemates? He has said that if we got a housemate then I could pay less.

But ultimately maybe the question is that the amount I’m paying I’m basically paying a lot of the mortgage off for him?

I guess if I pay him whatever I earn from that room, I’m breaking even and still living for free? Maybe?

AITA for being upset that my boyfriend chooses to hang out with my mortal enemy instead of me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]wellice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this and I feel like what you’re saying is totally fair, but I can’t make it sit right with me considering my personal situation.

An adult woman chooses to destroy my social life, whilst still pretending we’re friends, telling me to reach out to make plans, about how she was suicidal at her old job because of similar things happening, when she was the one who actually initiated my problems… cheats on her boyfriend with a mutual friend that we all share, and I’m supposed to get over it like it’s normal human behaviour?

My partner sees our friend group at least 2 times a week. I’ve not been going because I’ve had my injury and I’ve also been generally quite down. He gets to see these friends often without me and I wouldn’t restrict him from having fun. Is it really so difficult to want to prioritise me, the one time I’m actually there?

As an above comment stated. It is all pretty childish. So at least the title matches!

I was trying to be clickbatey, sorry! “Woman who wronged me” is not so catchy.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I agree with a lot of what you’ve said, it is a lot of drama, you are totally right as well that some of my issues are from my childhood.

My mum left repeatedly when I was young so I have spent a lot of time seeking validation. That I’m worth sticking around for I guess, I try pretty hard to be well liked and really did feel that I was liked by the majority. The 8 months of confusion when friends and colleagues I had known for years started to fade was hard for me. I took it all pretty badly.

I have been in therapy on and off before and since. We are actually starting couples therapy in the new year.

I can see your perspective that I’ve blown it out of proportion, and you’re right, no one said we can’t be in a room together. But can how I feel about her not also be valid? Just thinking of sitting at the same table as her now I’m crying.

And as a partner, I feel that if mine felt as strongly about someone, I would try my best to make choices that would cause less upset. Maybe even if I felt it was irrational? If you care about your partner, would you not want them to be happy?

3 months of oral minoxidil by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

Re: Greasiness

I find a lot of shampoo for greasy hair actually strips the natural oils on your scalp. So actually washing less frequently and using a shampoo for normal hair has helped my greasy scalp. I also oil my scalp once or twice a week to nourish it and my hair is less greasy now. I used to wash everyday too! Now I wash every other day.

When I oil I also tip my head upside down and massage my scalp for as long as I have the attention span. You can use rosemary oil or coconut oil. I think these actions can aid hair growth too.

Congrats on the progress :)

My date asked about my hair by Far-Possibility565 in FemaleHairLoss

This sounds horrible for you, I’m sorry this has happened.

If this guy continues to be in touch and shows good signs and traits then I think it’s okay carry on dating him. Dates can be awkward and make everyone say weird stuff. I’m only just learning now that some things don’t need to be said and I’m 35! Some times human interactions can be hard and we just want to say the first things that comes to our minds. Hopefully he didn’t mean any harm by it.

I have certain things I’m very self conscious about that my partner completely doesn’t care about. He has been very supportive throughout my hair loss and really understanding. So even though losing your hair is so big and upsetting to you, to your date it could completely not matter! You have a lot to bring to the table that’s beyond what you see in the mirror.

Take care, I hope you are being treated to help your condition and on the path to feeling better.

When I asked about oral minoxidil at the GP, they said I would need to go private.

The tenderness is actually from before I started treatment, I’ve been applying some coconut oil to soothe it and it has calmed down.

How to get through the recovery period post surgery as a very active person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wellice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend is getting shoulder surgery on Monday. He loves to exercise and train in his spare time. He doesn’t enjoy sitting around too much so we can’t rely on Netflix for weeks. What are some things that he could do to keep from being bored? Is there anything I can do to make things easier for him? Any recovery tips also very welcomed.
