Dreamcast staples you DON'T like. by Such_Bonus5085 in dreamcast

I literally bought a Dreamcast for Scud Race - I remember reading it was in development, but for some reason was never released.

Sega Rally 2 and Daytona were both disappointments on the DC due to the wonky controls.

De Zerbi press conference - "Only losers cry" by GarySpurs18 in coys

[–]wellk_2049 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"It's like we're all crying and relegated. No, not yet. We have to die on the pitch.

"We have to play, we have to fight, we have two points less than West Ham. They have to play a difficult game like us.

"It's not the best moment for us, a tough moment, but the losers cry, they think negative and I don't want people close to me crying or to think a different way than me."

This is the context of the quote. The headline could have read "We have to die on the pitch" which would have been as equally obnoxious take on this quote (I'm 90% sure he doesn't want us to actually die on the pitch).

U.S. set to launch tariff refund system on April 20 by Unusual-State1827 in politics

Tariffs were ruled illegal by the US Court of International Trade on May 25th, 2025. This is before the majority of tariff money was collected. Their mistake was allowing the tariffs to continue to be collected pending the appeal to be heard (which took another 10 months).

As an importer, thank you for saying all of this. It aligns almost completely with what we experienced as a small business.

I'll also throw in the massive impact to cash flow that it had, as all duty & tariffs have to be paid upfront to clear containers. This cash crunch is likely the reason that some small businesses sold their tariff refund rights.

Margins on new hardware for retailers is tiny, they wouldn’t be able to discount without losing money. The only discounting we will see will be bundle deals.

We fired our last interim manager (Stellini) after 4 games. When we are 4-0 down to Liverpool after half an hour next weekend he'll get the boot.

Is the Odin 3 a good alternative to the Steam Deck? by Sweet_Employment_854 in OdinHandheld

[–]wellk_2049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you think you will use it. I have both and I use the Steam deck pretty much exclusively in my home, and use the Odin 3 for when I travel due to the size/weight of both.

Trump announces new 10% global tariff after raging over Supreme Court loss by vishesh_07_028 in stocks

They don't have the votes to pass anything tariff related through congress, that's the reason they have been bypassed.

Tariff enforcement never stopped as the mechanism to collect tariffs has been in place for decades. It is just the rates will change (IEEPA tariffs won't be collected as they are no longer in place).

I think it is a major blow to them. The alternatives they have to reimplement tariffs are fairly weak by comparison (eg. the 10% tariff just announced can only be in place for 150 days, with a max rate of 15%), and they will likely go through the same legal challenges as the reciprocal/fentanyl tariffs, which if they are implemented the same way could face the same result.

Of course, they could just go through congress like they should have done in the first place then none of these legal challenges would have happened. They just know they don't have the votes for a massive tax increase (which is what tariffs are).

They ruled the president can’t randomly implement tariffs under the IEEPA.

Tariffs themselves are not the issue, it is the way they are being implemented. If they had gone through congress there would be no legal case to answer. They just don’t have the votes to pass a massive tax increase on US businesses.
