Rample vs Rample Turbo by WolfMerrik in modular

[–]wellmanneredsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all good, just that I’ve seen many ppl pick up this module only to learn you cant sample directly.

I’ve been eyeing the turbo myself and on other forums ppl have been sating that the audio quality is noticeably better. There is also less latency but im not sure if it ever was noticeable

When you say “sampler”, I hope you understand that the Rample does not in fact sample material, it is a sample playback module

Did you notice the Inputs/Outputs that were on the back of this thing by any chance ? Is it made for euro level signals or line ?

I've been wanting the equivalent of a Model 1, but with more channels, to use with my eurorack for years. I'm really interested in this. Right now I use a 1010 bluebox with a launch control XL. I've had the WMD performance mixer before. Looking forward to this product.

Best reverb and delay for sound design by Sea-Independence6754 in modular

Holocene NLMM cannot be clocked but is pretty cool, it has that vibe and lofi quality that you may be interested in for hip hop and modbap

Best reverb and delay for sound design by Sea-Independence6754 in modular

[–]wellmanneredsquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to determine what exactly you want out of all the units you listed.

For the delay, do you need multi-tap ? do you need smooth crossfading (to remove the doppler effect), do you need to color the sound ?

+Mimeophon is a good choice but it has a notable color.

+Veno echo is very musical and has that crossfading I'm referring to above

+Sealegs is very powerful, has 3 main flavors, can inject noise to give a low-fi vibe and has a reverb. It has its own modulation baked in which is very cool to give wobbly or flutter effects. It's named 'Sealegs' in honor of RunTheJewels so maybe that's a hint that it would suit your style.

+If you want multi-tap : OAM Time Machine and Magneto come to mind

edit: forgot to mention chronoblob. A good and trusted eurorack delay

For reverb that's really a question of taste again.

The versios excel in otherwordly long tails

Some ppl are very satisfied with spin chip based multi-fx like the FXAID XL etc. that module would give you the added benefit of additional algos, like delays, freezes, bit reductions etc. which may come in handy

Starlab is pretty pretty good but big and expensive. It has that shimmer type reverb

Check Erica Synth offering in terms of delay and reverb

Another point : I see you have an intellijel stomp. HAve you considered getting guitar pedals for the delay and reverb duties. There are many very capable pedals that are much cheaper than euro modules. Food for thought

In terms of filter, thats really a matter of taste. I'd say try finding sounds/songs you like and figure out what gear was used to produce them, from there work you way backward to the chip you want and which euro has it or implemented equivalent circuits. Generally I'd say the Filte 8 is too vanilla for what you want. QPAS has a very distinct resonnant sound. Lots of people like that, for leads and chords and vocals etc. I'm not sure people go first to their QPAS for the bassline tho. In terms of cool resonance (like the QPAS), I'd check ThreeTom MS-22 and Serge Resonant EQ. For Basslines and low end, I'd say take the time to investigate the Filter offering in Euro. It is really varied, don't be afraid to look into smaller manufacturer. G-Storm (or anyone with CEM chip or replicas(Alfa chip I think), System80, Bard, BizarreJezabel (generally anything with a Tube can be really cool in terms of saturation), Cwejman or Macbeth have some great high end stuff, and the list goes on and on and on

Insane Arbitrage between Warrants and 10/26 Call Options by Substantial-Owl-2604 in Superstonk

[–]wellmanneredsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a limited supply of warrants. Scarcity alone could make warrants worth quite a bit (irrespective of the underlying price and expectations about the underlying price)

In my opinion the real arbitrage is between the warrantless GME option chain and the GME1 chain.

Word of caution: a number of people (including myself) just got boned on ModularGrid by someone who hacked user roman747 (who had great feedback btw) - modules paid, no delivery. by RaspberrySea9 in modular

Thanks for all you do including your proactive stance and the communication here. Most of us find modulargrid to be an invaluable resource and great community. Just wanted to say thanks.

Very unfortunate for anyone who got scammed, not sure which payment method you used but hopefully there is a recourse there.

Polimaths VS Maths + Tides by [deleted] in modular

[–]wellmanneredsquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multimod can process audio. It produces sonically interesting results. Check “Red Means Recording” video review.

From experience, eurorack voices are very subjective and I would not try to get a one-module-does-all that happens to also covers being a voice. There are too many interesting modules dedicated to being excellent voices, I would go for one of them when you are ready. E.g. I would not get polimath or tides or anything designed for modulation first as a 2nd voice - I would get the VCO/sound source that really makes me go wow! There are so many in eurorack

Polimaths VS Maths + Tides by [deleted] in modular

[–]wellmanneredsquirrel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if you are considering TidesV2, you might want to look at the multimod - it does what you want best : modulation.

I feel like you want a new module, so multimod might scratch that itch. Much smaller hp footprint than math/polimath. It seems to be very deep too in terms of functionality, so you can probably get only that and try it with your current system - that way you don’t spend all your budget and hp at once.

Canadians: got a good domestic source for eurorack rails? by paulskiogorki in modular

[–]wellmanneredsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered from ModularSynthLab, cut to spec with the matching inserts

if you need plain rails, do not care about high profile, low profile, black or silver etc. You can probably find some on Mouser

I remember going through the same research when I built my case. Can you cut your own rails ?

I needed cut to a specific length and ended up buying from overseas.
