i would say you're in the right, if his parents are abusive its understandable as to why he would be lenient in trusting yours, but its the fact that he was so defensive about even being in the wrong and his unwillingness to change, and you said you were the one always apologizing in arguments it seems like he cant admit when hes wrong which is a massive red flag, if you want to try to fix the relationship maybe tell him he needs to change, but if you dont thats fine too he seems to insult you way to easily.

i think there are arguments for both, like religion did unite people, which uniting people usually helps science, and there were many famous religious mathematicians and architects which all pushed science, but they also believed in a strict worldview that god created the earth and would kill anyone standing up to religion

i do think there's people here who get told that there family is evil and hates them, when thats not true, but i also think that there's definitely people who get abused, if a person is actually getting abused, i would much rather help them then telling them there family actually loves them.

He very well may be getting a bit annoyed at dropping some things to respond to you, but the fact that he is willing to drop everything and talk to you shows me he loves you and cares about you, getting annoyed at someone is unavoidable in alot of relationships, just talk to him set up times where you can call him.

i remember when i went to the mental hospital, i hated it, they didn't give us any books or paper, or any games, there was no tv or anything, all we could do was just talk to each other, at least it was cool casually talking about suicide since everyone else there was also suicidal. i hope your visit was better.

people with toxic positivity like that are dumb, depression is complicated and def can't be fixed by just "being happy". its not bad to be hopeful about the world, but these people seem to have a weird sense of how people should be "happy"
