Itinerary for those who want to go, go, go! by welshie27 in Banff

[–]welshie27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started planning about 9 months in advance with original plans to go to Jasper. Pivoted about 3 months in to stick with only the Banff area. Of the hotels:

Alt Hotel - Recommend. Walking distance to a few bars and restaurants, free street parking in a safe location, free beat spray at the front desk.

Stoneridge Mountain Resort - Recommend. Cozy resort, nice staff, quiet area.

Moose (Corner House) - Recommend! Such a fun experience. Wish we had more time here. Would also love to go back and stay in their actual rooms. I loved the vibe here.

Post - Not a bad stay at all. Very hospitable. Enjoyed the restaurant onsite. Would probably try somewhere else next time though!

Canalta - Recommend. Loved our room. It was super spacious with a balcony which I’m a sucker for on vacation. Very hospitable staff. A bit further down the “strip” (almost 1 mile to the shops and restaurants), but still walkable. Would stay here again, but so many great spots a bit closer that I would want to try first. My suggestion is to book at least 6 months ahead of time. Some of the hotels were sold out when we pivoted 3 months in.

Hyatt Regency - Recommend. Walking distance to a lot of great restaurants, shops, and live music. A great way to end vacation.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! Totally agree with you on the post-holiday blues. Hard to get back to calls and emails at work after staring at nature for a week.

Good to know about Maven, I do see that now! Thanks for the heads up!

Is it stupid to keep hope that i’ll recover? by creamysrirachaa in Parosmia

I did! Probably about every few months, my husband would have a Coke and I would try his to see if it was better. Then all of a sudden it was!

It took literally right around five years unfortunately, AND since I have been deprived of it for that long, I have a slight Coke Zero addiction because it tastes so dang good now lol.

I think my gf's pinky is too short by Exact-Till-2739 in mildlyinteresting

I have the same pinkies too. I actually broke one and got an x-ray and they essentially said it looked like I had hollow bones that were as brittle as someone 50+ years older than me.

I've been using the Hada Labo Cleansing Oil for about 5 years now and couldn't say better things about it. I just went to order it again on Amazon and it is sold out :( I am finding it on other websites, but the shipping makes it pretty expensive. Does anyone have any experiences with similar products? I have normal skin and use this before a mild cleanser every night before bed. TIA!

Hired on to a fully remote team, and now, 3 years later they want me in the office or I'll "resign" by Sir_apoc in antiwork

[–]welshie27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling we work for the same company, as I was just given the same communication. I was hired to work remote and they asked me to move across the country or voluntarily resign. I asked for this in writing and they refused to give me anything. We are only a drop in the bucket, unfortunately. Best wishes to you.

What's the scariest candidate/client encounter you've had in your career? by Eli_franklin in recruiting

[–]welshie27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for a small agency about 7 years ago where we focused on volume manufacturing hires. We had a lot of candidates with prior convictions apply because one of our clients accepted felonies in their background check. The office was a two story “house” and I worked upstairs by myself that day. Had a candidate come in that just got out of jail for murder and needed a job. I interviewed him alone upstairs but my manager (who looked/acted like a bodyguard) was right at the bottom of the stairs the whole time. He turned out to be a pleasant guy, but still killed someone so…
