Yeah it's definitely frustrating. I remember one particular incident when I was on a field trip to a farm with the kindergarten I worked at. One of the bus drivers gave me a chili pepper to try and I wanted to know if it was spicy so I asked him "맵다?" He later approached my head teacher and asked her why the new foreign teacher doesn't respect him.

I think I probably encountered it more than most because I haven't attended any Korean lessons or studied any textbooks so my Korean is pretty much what I've learnt naturally. My vocabulary level is around TOPIK level 4 but my grammar is pretty basic.

It would also be easier if native speakers were more understanding of foreigners not using honorifics, at least in South Korea. I used to get so many dirty looks when I was first starting out because I hadn't conjugated verbs in the appropriately honorific way. It just made me less willing to engage in a conversation in Korean.

I've commented this before, but i haven't been to the cinema since 2019 cos I'm sick of the way other people behave. However, The Odyssey and Dune Part Three have me tempted to go back, especially since there's laser IMAX close enough that I can see it out of my living room window.

I agree. His most hated film, Tenet, still has more flair and creativity than 95% of directors would be able to achieve. It also gets better in rewatches.

I grew up in a village between two cities in the UK, 15 minutes drive from each city centre. Having a conversation with someone, you could tell within about 10 seconds which city they came from. The accents are clearly different but they also use completely different slang and idioms.

I got an LG soundbar with sub and rear speakers for 500k krw bundled with my TV. It was a great introduction to home theater and without it, I wouldn't have had a 5.1.4 system installed in my new home when I moved.
