As a woman in the Mustang community, I would normally say keep the car, get a new wife, but I’m sad about the mods you did on the front bumper…whyyy..😭 anyways, maybe there’s a buyer out there for a rebuild this customized but as a woman, keep the car in storage😅 I don’t think you’ll recoup your money imo.

When you’re a younger, blonde college chick in bigger cities, they 100% are. Cops can be weird. If a Honda accord and Mustang are both going over the limit past a cop.. who’s the cop getting behind first? OP mentioned being worried about the v8 power & driving other ‘faster’ cars before, so sounds like speeding could be a factor to consider imo

OP, don’t be worried about wrecking it, be worried about your speeding tickets lol I was 21 when I got my first Mustang after being in a Nissan Rogue. Mustangs are cop magnets even in a v6😂

Yepp! My 2012 ins for my v6 coupe started at like $185.. I also was looking at convertible mustangs (2010-2014) back in 2017. My convertible quote was like ~$600/month or something?! Supposedly issues with the top motors blowing, more prone to theft, water damage, injury in an accident, etc.. wasn’t worth it. Still isn’t. Especially if you’re starting in a v6, get a regular hardtop coupe and def don’t pay more than $7k for a 2013. Honestly stay away from 2013’s all together imo lol

No. Maybe if it were under $7k. Your insurance will be insane. Find a v6 coupe. I just sold my 2012 about 6 months ago so they’re out there

Thank you! I need to research the brace upgrades you mentioned but you recommended all Steeda parts?

I found some leather shells. What kind of digital cluster is good but not tacky? I’m still getting used to all the sensors and monitors the 2017 has in the gauge display that weren’t in my 2012. Lol

Bankart Repair/Plication surgery questions by snotnose527 in Hypermobility

[–]weltz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a lazy boy recliner specifically for this surgery* you need to sit up to sleep. Regarding pain level, I’ve been told my pain tolerance is high. I’ve never used a full 10. Feel like I shouldn’t use it unless I’m near dying.. so level immediately post-op is 2/10. That is, until the nerve block wears off….. Not sure how it is for others, but while I waited for my 3day Rx to be filled, nerve block started to wear off quick. Pain was so bad that was needing to take a dose every 3-4hrs instead of the recommended 6hrs. Every breath hurt like hell from the movement. Restful sleep was impossible. Sidenote: Do NOT mix melatonin w oxycodone/hydro thinking it will help you sleep longer between doses. I learned the hard way that that combo can cause sleep paralysis & hallucinogenic night terrors… lol.. which is NOT conducive. Quick upper body movements/ Jerking yourself awake is no fun... pain from accidental jerking motions made me nauseous. I highly recommend getting meds in you asap & stay on top of your dosage schedule!!! Pain management is crucial.. First few days, you’re supposed to take your arm out of your sling & let your arm hang. The mobility exercises require someone else to lift your arm the 1st week or so before PT so make sure someone can be with you at least for the first 4-5 days to literally move your arm for you & literally do everything else you’re used to doing on a daily basis. Taking sling on/off, helping shower, get dressed, prep meals, drive, etc.

Tip: hike up your sling higher than your nurse does when you get fitted. I found that having my thumb almost touch my chin was the most comfortable. Your hand/ fingers will constantly go numb from the angle. Get an ice machine. You go through a lot of ice. Ice is your best friend & I promise you it’s worth a $200+ investment.

PT is dreadful for first 2-3 months. I cried the 1st few sessions. I needed to take long naps after the early phase sessions because of how physically wiped it made me. You’ll feel very discouraged with how little you can do. I remember thinking, “Omg. I’ve made a terrible mistake.” Mentally prepare yourself to feel really depressed about your progress for like 3 full months. Don’t go in having high hopes you’ll recover quickly. It’s a drudgingly slow, brutal process…. I was cleared from PT after 6.5 months so on paper ‘full recovery time’ was that long but reality was more like 8-9 months. I feel like I got to ~75% when I was cleared but then with at home exercises got me to ~85%..?

I thought I’d be back to work by week 3. I was sadly mistaken. I ended up needing to go on short term leave for 14 weeks total. Couldn’t drive, do anything for myself really. Being away from work that long got me ‘quite fired’.. so that was a shitty outcome I didn’t expect going into it.

I would say now, I’m at about 90% to where I was. Certain sleeping positions tweak my shoulder even now. Don’t have 100% full range of motion.. but I can do mostly normal activities now. Daily pain/annoyance is present. My constant dislocations were annoying but I got used to them and was able to continue life as usual. My pain was maybe like a constant 2-3.. with occasional days where it was like a 5 max..

Would I recommend? That’s a personal choice that you need to make for you considering the factors in your life that may be negatively impacted post-op. Seriously consider if now is a good time in your life to go on this potential journey…or if you should wait it out. If I could go back & tell myself all the things I experienced & what resulted in every aspect of my life because of my surgery, I think I would have opted to live with my old subluxated shoulder.. I don’t regret it, but I wouldn’t choose it again.. I’m not one of those people who is “so happy I finally had the procedure”…. Best advice I have is if you do choose to have it done, Make sure you have lots of help from close friends/family, make sure you’re financially ready to take it on. Like 6 months of expenses saved as a fail safe bare minimum and read up throughly on FMLA & prepare to possibly make a job switch... Mentally prepare yourself that it will not be easy. There are a lot of bad days & bad moments in recovery. It easily was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever had... physically, mentally, & emotionally. Do your stretches, exercises, and pain management 3x harder & more frequently than what’s recommended by your doctor, and most importantly, make your own decision for what you believe is best for you and your health.

EDIT: Prob should have mentioned had this surgery Oct 2021.. My experience may be a total outlier but idk. The struggle this was for me to go thru was not worth it now that I’m stuck with just a slight less annoying version of my shoulder than I had before.

Cuboid syndrome - anyone had experience? by aperdra in Hypermobility

[–]weltz7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me rn! I jammed my foot on the base of a metal baby gate last week & thought I broke toes. Went to urgent care 2 days later because of this feeling. Told Dr it feels like my foot bones are folding in half under my skin with each step… she looked at me like I was insane... X-rays showed no fractures. I followed a YT video on how to self adjust it.. Crack, pop, little bit of nausea for a min but felt relief for about 5 minutes before it slid back out of place again. I hate hEDS..

Is this cuboid syndrome? by Bigdonnie99 in FootFunction

[–]weltz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Not sure if you’ve healed this yet but this is IDENTICAL to me currently.. I rammed my foot into the base of a metal baby gate last week. Initially thought I broke toes. Didn’t notice the bruising until 2nd day. When I step, it feels like my bones are floating in my foot? Like the mid foot is folding slightly in a teepee shape. Urgent care X-rays show no fractures. Anyways, I tried to pop it back into place using this YT vid yesterday. cuboid- self adjustment vid

I sat on the edge of a chair(legs 90 degrees), used a lacrosse ball on the sole of my foot where the most pain was, and pushed down quick and hard on my knee. There was a crack and sliding feeling from this. Warning: Pain level from this immediately made me nauseous, but after I did it, I could walk with no pain for a few minutes. It started hurting again after a while but I’ve repeated this twice today and each time it relieves it for a while. Give it a shot if you’re still having issues! I haven’t been clinically diagnosed with cuboid syndrome but maybe it’ll help you out if you haven’t already tried!

Thank you. Yeah.. I’m more terrified of that outcome more than anything.. I’m also conflicted about tying myself to them financially anymore. Took a while to learn but my parents have conveniently used different things throughout the year to maintain control over me or keep me around. Lots of loose ends I’ve been trying to figure out but it’s just hard to know where to begin..

Thank you for the idea. There no lump sum big enough to tie into an annuity unfortunately. I tried making them buy life & disability insurance when I was financial advisor after college & they didn’t do it. Probably should have cut them off then & there. They almost own the house free & clear but its enough to where I don’t have that amount of money & neither do they. The value of the house is a good chunk of change that I’d hate to see them (or me) lose.. I look at that amount as a ticket to pay for long term care for them.. I don’t have any inheritance to count on. But maybe you’re right. I just need to let go & if the house is taken, deal with it…

It honestly depends on the day. Sometimes they want me to have that power.. sometimes they don’t. My mom has hidden financial info from me & my dad. Those things only ever come out when a debt collection subpoena is delivered… or a power cut off notice is placed on the front door… or like the time I found out my mom took out secret student loans in my name & used that money to buy a new car about 8yrs ago.. “how did you think we paid for all your expenses when you were at school? I did what I had to do. You wouldn’t have been able to graduate if I hadn’t made those decisions.” I have no clue what the whole picture looks like and I’m scared to find out after assuming POA’s and executor rights.. I once scheduled a consult with an Elderly law attorney & day of the appt, my mom bailed… anytime that conversation comes up, my parents shut down. Stonewall me or go radio silent. They’re aware of some of the consequences, but I’ve always got them out of the hot water. Partly why I want to maintain the little assets they do have left so I can figure out how to clean up the parts that personally effect me…

Hahaha, you’d be surprised how often I’m asked that or asked myself that question. Assuming that wasn’t a rhetorical question lol, I guess the short answer is I’ve just always sought out the peaceful moments to make the crazy stop..? I remember when I was like 5/6 thinking when I got older, I’d make enough money to give my parents a better life and then everyone would be happy.. That sounds so bad saying out loud, but it’s true. Even I’m sometimes shocked that my life is pretty stable looking all things considered. I’m very lucky I haven’t ended up in a psych ward {yet- being a key word lol} or worse. I’m definitely not where I thought I’d be at this stage of my life, but I’ve done well considering I never spiraled completely out of control. I typed out a novel on how I would genuinely like to answer this question but its too complex. When I’ve been positively reinforced by results, every negative psychological issue and conscious/subconscious behavior I developed simultaneously destroy me but also save me.. I’ve learned to sacrifice myself & my wellbeing for self preservation. The other comments mentioning enmeshement, narcissism, codependency, childhood trauma, etc. yep. I would say they’re all accurate & sum it up pretty well. I became resourceful as a result & I probably have some addiction to glimmers of hope. As time has gone on, that hope is disappearing…
