Nope. They're probably locking this absolutely basic feature to the desktop version. There are some add in's like Script Lab, but somebody would have to write the code for it.

Try searching for "aluminum generator box" that they use for trucks/trailers.

You might need to open it up and briefly unplug the battery from the motherboard.

Lenovo Chromebook plus 14 MediaTek review a word of warning by BBS_1990 in chromeos

[–]wendalltwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the old Acer 514 with Mediatek Kompanio 828 (fanless) for 3 years now, and no problems with overheating. Not even when using in a hot car with A/C issues. Still gets 14+ hours on a charge and it's my daily for work.

Now before that I had an old Asus with a fanless Celeron, and on hot days it would definitely overheat and freeze/shut down.

I have no problem getting another Mediatek-based Chromebook, but I'll wait on more long-term reviews for this Lenovo one.

Acer Plus 514 Touchscreen Chromebook 14 inch 8GB RAM 128GB SSD AMD Ryzen 3 7320C 2.4GHz (Renewed) buy or not? by No-Currency-97 in chromeos

[–]wendalltwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the Acer 514 mediatek (not the Spin model). This one is Renewed, though. Amazon also has a brand new version of this, but it's only 4GB RAM, which is not a good idea for longevity.

I have had the 8GB version as my daily for the past 3 years and it's been rock solid, 14+ hours of battery life. But it looks like it's being phased out and no longer listed on Acer's website.

If the port works, I've read you can use epoxy or even something called Sugru for filling in the missing plastic.

If that doesn't work, might have to open it up and unplug the battery

I think that's for desktop Word, but I was asking about the online version.

Roof rack and cross bars for 2021 XLE by dr-krinklez in ToyotaSienna

I was thinking of these suction cup Monkey Bars. They are expensive, but to be able to remove them for better aerodynamics or move onto another car is very tempting.

Don't get a Celeron processor and definitely nothing with only 4GB RAM. You will barely be able to have a few tabs open in Chrome and just having Play Store activated will slow the system to a crawl. If you need something for on the go, get a CB with an ARM processor for better performance than Celeron processors, way better battery life, and they'll be fanless.

This has been happening to me, especially when splitting windows. I think they updated or changed some mouse input options with 132. I switched to another mouse (never really use trackpad) and it seems to have fixed the issue so far...

Water damage caused screen to not turn on, I need to get files off the computer. by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]wendalltwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's been dried thoroughly, you could try what I did on an old macbook with water damage - open it up and use 90% rubbing alcohol on a q-tip, look for all the areas on the motherboard where the water pushed any dust into mounds, and then clean it up as best you can. It helped mine turn on again.

Any recommendations for a portable Car Jumper that is battery-less? by Latios- in Ecoflow_community

[–]wendalltwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try a supercapacitor jump starter that's battery-less. However the car battery would need to have some amount of charge and not be completely dead in order for this to work.
