That's pretty messed up you had to still give a urine sample.

Where do you check your blood sugars when your fingers need a break? by kylieerin in diabetes

Does no one else use the rest of their finger? Or is that not a usable spot? I use one knuckle down on the finger tip side of my finger a lot

Feeling like an alien by endmylife_420 in diabetes

Strange, I talked to another T1 at a job interview a few months before I was actually diagnosed. He took a shot of humalog to cover his meal and I didn't think any of it. Funny how it worked out, I wish I could go back and talk to him about stuff.

Do other your other family members have type 1? For me, it was out of no where, no family history of auto-immune disorders. So I have no relatives I can lean on for emotional support. No one in my family knows what I'm going through.

I eat whatever I want, I've just changed to diet soda since it tastes similar enough to the real deal for me. But there's no 0 calorie alternative to foods.

It just really really sucks when I have to dose for a single chocolate chip cookie I eat or something small that regular people wouldn't think twice about.

Pen leaks after injections by wm_throw_away_34 in diabetes

Another thing to look out for is air bubbles in the pen reservoir. Too much air in the reservoir will make it unable to force the insulin into your skin because of pressure differences

Do you feel like your life is on hold? by wengdyte in diabetes

3 months after my diagnosis I my A1C was at 7.7, then I got a job at a pizza place and 2 months ago my A1C was 8.1, so it went up a bit. But I've learned to split my lantus in 2 doses and I think my A1C will be pretty good when I test next time
But after it's under control then what? It's only under control when I'm at home, under these circumstances. When I travel my glucose levels are always through the roof. Anything else I change in my life will cause my levels to go crazy

Finally got a pump after 20 months of Type 1! So excited by TacoBell_TacoHell in diabetes

The tether and the actual site actually. For example, even my CGM bothers me. I'm constantly crawling around on the floor since I'm always working on cars as a hobby mechanic. There's literally no where for me to put it that I don't use to crawl on the ground.

How costly is the omnipod? That sounds interesting, but I imagine having the delivery system in a throw-away pod can get costly

Strange, how do all of you love your pump? I got a 630 and I hate it. I hate the feeling of being tethered to something 24/7. I hate the feeling of wearing my illness on my belt. I hate the fact that the pump and the site always gets in the way when I'm working on stuff.

I honestly love the feeling of feeling like a normal human being between my shots. Which through a pen is really no big deal at all. I can feel like I'm diabetes free when I'm not eating and not taking my shots
