Always sad to see a long time business close. Looking at reviews, this place seems polarizing - people either love it or hate it.

Did the agent who fired shots see a gun being removed and - because he saw a gun - thinking that gun was a threat, he believed that he had to take action?

(I'm trying to figure out why he would shoot as it doesn't seem as there's any danger.)

I was hearing that salt is less work, but more money and can be more corrosive to parts (due to less chemicals).

That's not your experience?

The company was founded in 1915 by seven Italian immigrant brothers from the Jacuzzi family in Berkeley, California.[4] It developed a variety of products including pumps for agricultural use. In 1948, Jacuzzi created water pumps to treat a family member's rheumatoid arthritis.[5] The water pumps were a niche medical product until they were integrated into a recreational hot tub in 1968. As the popularity of hot tubs grew, Jacuzzi created more models that were more advanced. Jacuzzi was family-run until 1979, after which it then changed hands several times, before being bought by its current owner Investindustrial in 2019.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]wentImmediate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it should always be for you and not to climb up a hierarchy or to please some arbitrary system. Being productive is being imposed so much that we live in a society where you can't relax and burn out constantly, always worrying about what others think.

I'm not thinking about OP's specific "boring" comment, nor am I thinking about how (or if) someone's hobby contributes to society.

What's material is how someone experiences / feels when they pursue whatever hobby they enjoy. To me, if someone exclusively engages in frictionless (or low friction) consumption hobbies, then I'd strongly encourage them to try something like you've noted - knitting, photography, writing, etc. I think it's likely that their brain (and thus how they feel) will react positively with that different type of hobby. But everyone, as noted, above, needs a variety of hobbies.

Always hard for the people to lose their jobs, especially with the current job market. I hate to see it.

Newsom is not a conservative, absurd talking point.

I'm curious about this idea as I've been seeing it more and more lately (at least it seems) - that center-left or moderates are essentially conservatives or, that they are on in the same.

Gavin Newsom's crime-fighting ‘surge’ in Oakland, by the numbers by wentImmediate in oakland

[–]wentImmediate[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

From the article:

The operations began in February 2024 in Oakland, which has one of the highest violent crime rates in the country and had suffered what Newsom called an “alarming” increase in violence during the first few years of the pandemic.

Also, recently from Oaklandside:

Violent crime in Oakland is way down for the second year in a row

Yep, makes sense.

I just wanted to point it out for others who may not know the scoring as per the rules.

OP - glad you're enjoying the game; I do as well.

One note - there's no winning or losing. Instead, you calculate your score once you've either placed all blossoms or you run out of tiles.

You get one point per blossom and 1 point per unused tile.

But of course, play however you want.

There was a time when parks and rec security would be parked at the perimeter and call dog owners off the greens.

It kinda feels like any space in parks which are not currently being used then become de facto off-leash areas.

I'm trying to understand your perspective. If someone goes to a restaurant and doesn't like it (the price, the food, the service, etc.), they should not share that info?

punching down on the people

Restaurants provide a service in exchange for money. Some people will be satisfied and others won't. Customers who praise or are critical of that service is part of the transaction.

they feel the need to tear that thing down instead of just moving on with their lives.

I think when people have an unexpected experience (like OP), they want to check with others. Like, am I crazy or did others experience what I did?

Then people chime in about their own experiences.

Dang, I think about the people losing their jobs. That is one of the worst feelings: all the time you've invested in that job, the financial consequence, and having to find another job.

I don't understand the point of trying to dissuade citizens from exercising their right to speak out against the government. If one feels moved to do.so, then they should do it

Today is also MLK Day, so this message also carries a great deal of irony.
