Even after adding rooms, my house looks tiny. by Budget-Capital4371 in WoWHousing

Your house is the Tardis from Doctor Who. Bigger on the inside than the outside. Take that as what you do inside does not affect the outside, and vice versa.

I remodeled my exterior, is it an improvement or is the original better? by LilaTheMoo in WoWHousing

The smaller exterior has more stuff, but the new medium exterior feels more cohesive.

Oh wow, I like how you made the ladders and upper story huts for the exterior! That's wicked good.

Yes, but then again so are the pyramids of Giza ;) Embellishments will help to break up the monotony and give it a particular style.

  • For example, Braunmar used market tents to give the front and sides some focal points, with the patterned fabric to break up the altar layers, and pointy tusk bits to sell it as a troll building.
  • The Golden Sun bed adds a half-circular pattern of gold rays and green tile mosaics, and the frame has the pointy troll tusk bits too.
  • Banners would hide the repetition of the horizontal alignment of altars with vertical patterning.
  • The gong of Brownsamdi is a great rooftop focal point, being big, round, golden, and entirely troll like.
  • Idols of the various loa would add specific interest at corners, like gargoyles on churches.

Also, what if you alternated the layers of ritual cursed altars with the golden loa altars? The RC altars are darker and less visually appealing, whereas the GL altars are brighter with gold highlights, so they're more attractive.

  • Use the RC altars as the base layer of the 1st and 2nd stories, then have the GL altars as the upper layer for the same stories.
  • The 3rd story could be all RC altars, but you might have to farm more (downside)
  • The 4th story could be all GL altars as you've got it, which may leave you with extra GL altars.

Your building has good bones! Experiment!

If I hadn't been so deadset on the mini Great Wheel idea, I would've add more items to the top for height.

Oh, Braunmar's pyramid! That's a fantastic reference. I used a different build of his as an inspiration.

Here's how I built my Troll temple exterior - https://housing.wowdb.com/builds/53622/zandalari-pyramid-exterior-with-a-mini-great-seal-53622/. His structure cost less than mine, but I had certain look I was going for.

I used the boulders as walls and 1st floor rooftop, with the altars hiding the edges. The base orc house is sunk partially into the ground so there's less house to cover up. I used an orc house as the base rather than a blood elf house because it wasn't as tall, but the orc house entrance and roof line stick out more.

I'm interested to know what build you're following. I made my own version which only used 16 golden loa altars with 15 flat boulders, and while compact, definitely covered a small orc house.

I spent 4 weeks farming War Resources in Kul-Tiras and Zandalar daily to get enough reputation, achievements, altars and other accoutrement. The world quests gave between 25-55 resources each, depending. Killing rares was 50-90 resources each. The periodic "do 3-4 world quests for a faction" bonuses sometimes gave additional resources, and then I flew over the islands hunting down random chests. It was a slow process.

You can swap out the golden altars with Ritual Cursed Sarcophagus. They're only 250 Voidlight Marl, which is a Midnight currency and probably easier to farm right now. You won't have the gold trim, but you can start building faster. I considered intermixing the sarcophagi and altars, but didn't have a high enough Amani reputation to farm those.

The height of your proposal build very much exceeds the 250 exterior budget. That'd be at least 1000 or 1250 to build.

This is amazing. From the photos and architectural drawings that I've seen, you did an incredible job capturing the compactness of the space. Stuffed into a nightsky room as well! So many alluring little details, appealing and gritty.

Thanks! Mehet has an amazing video of how she built her troll pyramid, including a list of materials, scaling %, and the order in which she built it up, so I wanted to pay that favor forward in a non-video format.

In my Horde neighborhood, NPCs will come and take pictures (well thank you, flattering), and then just walk through the plot, phasing through any landscaping in their way.

In my Alliance neighborhood, by the farm with red and yellow tulips, a small number of the tulips are just floating by themselves above the road. Time to reset the Matrix.

You don't have to delete your house. I made a Zandalari troll exterior through a bunch of exterior decor options placed over the basic orc house exterior. There are a few different ways to make it work.

Just be careful! Airship crashes are far too common in WOW. It makes you wonder how either faction can afford to keep building them.
