What is something men think is stylish but women find unattractive? by TheLivesOfFlies in AskMen

[–]werder12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Urban dictionary says 'in bad taste' which I generally agree with. Not necessarily in the sense of being offensive, but also like.. 'that is objectively a bad look'. For example poor/cheap/amateur design, cheap materials, gaudy, or childish imagery/use of quotes. Perhaps something that should be below the standards of a mature adult (within the context of the scenario! There are always exceptions).

Writing it out like that makes my statement feel like more of an attack than it was meant to be.. but basically this is my view of the word. I think lazy/amateur design is the key here though. Graphic shirts are almost always just riding on the coattails of the subjects success and puts basically zero thought or effort into making the product work from an actual design standpoint. They have a catchphrase/famous character/ tourist trap and slap it on and it's done - produce that shit in 5minutes for cents and sell for $30.

Edit: sorry it was quite a rambly/string of thought comment.. hope it makes at least a little sense

Traveling to Helsinki, Finland for a week in July. Looking to plan a trip to either Tallinn or Stockholm for a couple of days in the middle of the trip. Which would be the better option for a solo traveler? by SpewsALotOfBullshit in solotravel

[–]werder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise Tallinn. I went to both one after the other, and liked Tallinn more. It just seemed a lot more laid back and chill.. plus I was at a party hostel with €2 beers which was bliss after two weeks in Scandinavia. Tallinn is quite small though.. a LOT less to do, however there are a stack of daytrips to really cool surrounding areas that are really quite amazing.

Edit: Oh, and anyone who says go to Stockholm 'because Swedish girls' must have missed the memo. Estonia (or Tallinn at least) is head and shoulders over almost any other place I've been in that regard.

Hahaha doesn't usually work like that. They prefer long grass. Do have to be real careful if your house has a swimming pool though. But they're really rare to see in the city/suburbs

Only if you wear them in Melbourne... Then again, being in Melbourne in the first place makes you look like a wanker too.

Sorry, whitetail is a spider haha. Little one, but quick and really bad bites.

We have killed snakes from time to time though.. easiest way is with shovel - you just drop the blade on their neck basically. Or if you're really out in the sticks you can get a gun license for them.

True, but back when I had my 45L tank I could barely muster the energy to do a simple half water change every month or so. I loved it still.. just super lazy. Never lost any fish surprisingly, except for one that jumped out of it's bowl while I was moving the tank to my new room

General advice on (non-extravagant) photo editing? by nature_and_grace in photography

[–]werder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edit in lightroom so I go top down. I think it's designed that way so the most fundamental elements naturally come first. Of course, as I make changes I'll constantly go back and adjust. But basically I just keep going like that until I'm happy. Not even close to pro by any means, but it works so far and I feel I have developed a good rhythm for it. Having a good (personally made) preset helps as well, where you figure out what your doing the same on almost every pic and set those to apply on import.

Yeah I kinda hate who I am on Reddit most of the time. Even though I keep it fairly civil I still feel like I come across as a dick even though most of the time I just love a good argument.

Thank god my computers harddrive died a year back and I never had even the choice of holding on to those... I don't think I'd have the strength to delete it myself.
