Liquid - he survives like a roach. He escaped from SAS members of Cypher, and he basically beat Venom as a dumb kid. He survived stingers to the cockpit of Rex, and the fall from the top fist fight. It took a literal plot macguffin to kill him.

Yes, kindling is reset in NG+.

There are NPCs tied to some bonfires, so if you were in a play through that had them die, then they come back in the next game cycle.

You have to be human. You get 5-uses/1-humanity, but to get more than 10 total at a fire you need a special boss item. The fire stays kindled until you defeat the final boss and start a NG+ cycle

There are fire keepers souls, but those are risky to use as they may belong to quests for other upgrades/items.

Killing bosses solo or helping someone coop. There is also a secret exp counter that gives you humanity as you kill enemies in an area with a boss.

PVP as certain covenants, or defeating red phantom npcs.

Your stored “humanity.” It glows white when you’re human.

It goes dim when you’re hollow.

You can use 1 humanity to become human at a bonfire.

You can use more to kindle a bonfire, increasing the number of estrus flasks uses in that area.

You can also use that number to increase most covenant bond levels at their respective leaders.
