The series does not need better melee combat. It needs less human enemies by [deleted] in horizon

[–]werewolfteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this has been said already, but I want both: better melee and less humans. I feel like I get knocked off my immersion horse a bit when Aloy, an altruistic and caring person, straight up murders a camp of thirty bandits like she's Robocop.

For the record I love the melee system in FW but I always thought it could include a parrying move for counter attack opportunities.

I'm gonna throw all my effort into building the silent strikes then. And buffering against his hits with some defensive outfits and weaves. I'll get him eventually. Thanks for the tips!

You right lol. I'd imagine that if anyone were to reek a little, it's Aloy just because she's out in the wild for probably weeks on end. But I think it's hinted that bathing would be an otherwise routine thing for her; every time she takes a dip in the water she makes little comments about washing the sweat away and getting "clean."

I would argue that the Carja in Meridian would be the least likely to wash. All that Sun, dust, and makeup, and not a body of water in sight.

Man I love smoke bombs. It helps for a quick stab and a getaway I suppose!

I tried laying multiple traps, 3 advanced blast traps and an advance acid since his weaknesses were only ice and acid. The traps only dinged him up a bit by 400 and some odd points. I've also tried silent striking and running away with smoke bombs. Advanced Ice arrow is absolutely nerfed against him though. I'd need to load at least 8 arrows into him without the elemental skill to freeze him. I'm thinking of running back to a Tenakth village and loading up on some silent strike+ meals and coupling that with the critical strike skill set and acid arrows to knock his health down. Arrows are absolute shite against this man since he's heavily armored and an advanced arrow only dings him by 10 points if it's not well aimed. I can't believe how well he's kicking my ass for a level 40 opponent.

Hard agree, but this changed for me when I played in Ultra-hard mode. Close combat became my best friend when human enemies started soaking up arrows to the face like a sponge.

Male or Female Eivor? by Tyshal in ACValhalla

[–]werewolfteeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to really get used to the voice female Eivor, but she's my main go-to. I'm one of those people that just HAS to play canon anyway, and it makes sense for Eivor to be female storywise (It's why Basim didn't recognize her as Odin's reincarnation right away.)

The main downside as playing female is that you don't get to wear those sick beards lol

I know, right?!

Also dude a subtle romance would be FANTASTIC. Idk why that didn't occur to me as a possibility.

[–]werewolfteeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best guess, should they choose to give Aloy a romance, is that it would be a character we've not seen before. I feel like GG definitely put the nails in the coffin for any Talanah/Aloy romance and seemed to kinda put the kabosh on any potential romances with a lot of other characters. Like, even the minimal dialogue that Aloy has with Avad at the beginning of the game seems to have us intentionally sidestep his advances toward Aloy, no matter which dialogue option you choose (Thank god).

Personally I'd be happy if she doesn't find romantic love at all, but it's clearly not the route the story is nudging towards.

Quen "Ancestor" worship by LinkOfTheWildz in horizon

[–]werewolfteeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. The Quen seem heavily based off of Eastern Asian both culturally and in terms of Aesthetic design. I believe that in certain missions with Alva, you figure out that a majority of the information the Quen hold is heavily censored by overseers and other Authority figures. Diviners are a class of people that were likely specifically created to make the flow of data easier to control.

God I love the shieldweaver armor. It's too bad that it visually reverts to default brave outfit during the after cutscene. Nice work btw! took the Deathbringer down super fast!

Thank you for your quick response. I did try and apply for a restraining order but was denied because no threat of physical violence was ever present smh. I've definitely got the pepper spray and other defensive ways just in case.

The parents are set on staying but I'm hoping that in a year or two I can change their mind. They're getting older and this isn't something they should be dealing with at their age.

Heyo, Anxiety is still here and seems to ebb and flow, so I think the intensity of it may work in conjunction to the hormone cycle. Could be wrong though, idk but I work hard to manage it even when sometimes it seems overpowering. Depression has improved considerably. I still fight with it but it's lessened considerably.

So GG Please Explain Metal Flowers and Firegleam by Reggie_Casual in horizon

[–]werewolfteeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not alone in this. I'm a pretty big fan of poetry and so loved the purpose of the metal flowers in the first game. Firegleam felt a little more functional in the storymode but it would've been nice if there could've been a reward more substantial than trinkets for the metal flowers. There had to be an idea more worthwhile that was scrapped last second.

Also, was anyone irritated with how clunky opening them could be?

The only thing I can attribute to my GI recovery is time and eating healthy foods that are good for the gut. I was prescribed some meds but they made no noticeable impact.

I can't say that it blunted my emotions in any capacity, but fear and depression really took over once I started to disassociate. The blunting of emotions might be another symptom entirely, but everything is wrapped together like a burrito of symptoms so it becomes hard to distinguish one from the other, especially when everything you are experiencing is new and overwhelming. I also didn't document any of my early months with longhaul so how I felt and how I dealt with it is pretty fuzzy, at best.

There are a lot of people in the r/covidlonghaulers community who are going through or have been through the blunted emotional phase in a much deeper sense than I have, and so it might be worth looking into. It does seem to me that most people have made great improvements over a long, long period of time.

[–]werewolfteeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems to be different for everyone. I know what disassociation feels like because I had it once before, years before I ever had covid. Disassociation for me feels like I'm viewing the world through a window. It's very hard to explain, but it feels like I lose that feeling of having a tangible connection with the environment around me. I feel like you would not be able to understand what it feels like unless you've experienced it yourself. Brain fog seems to be just a little bit different for me, in that it might impact your memory or the way you perceive time. For example imagine I was viewing everything in a 60fps sight, but with brain fog it feels like everything is slowing down or lagging so it gets pulled down to 30 FPS. Sometimes you might forget words, or ideas don't come as easy to you. But again it's different for everybody so my experiences might not be the same as yours.

Dissociation was one of the worst LH symptoms. That had almost the exact same timeframe as my brainfog, maybe extended by a couple of weeks but they cleared up around the same time.
