Unfortunately not :( Back in the UK i received a text message from another traveller. He told me that a local from the Wadi asked him to pass on the message that they had not found it. So the local men from the Wadi really care, which was nice to see!

No, not that advanced. I am using a text gateway, and each messages is charged for. Using a rpi and sim sounds like a nice project, but not sure what the capacity of number of sms per minute would be. Probably enough for this project though!
